Hello everyone.
Last year I installed a ProStart CT-3300 in my 94 Taurus. It has hookups for the door locks, but they were too confusing. Now, I've decided to try it and see if I could get it working. Now. My taurus does not have keyless entry. I've heard that I have to use a positive pulse. Is that right? The thing is, my command start module has (-)Lock Output and (-)UnLock Output. (negative) It says it's programmable for 7/10 sec or 4 sec pulse. Can anyone help me on what to do here? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Have you tried the ProStart web site or technical assistance hotline (if they have these services)?

I haven't been able to find a website. I doubt they would help me anyways, it took me 2 weeks to figure out how to program the remote thanks to their help. lol.

How about the people you bought it from? Do they install systems? If they do, maybe the installer can give you some tips.

I bought it from canadian tire, and I'll never ask them for help. They'll tell me to bring it in, and then charge me a fortune. lol.

You need to buy 2 relays and hook them between the brain and lock wires. This way, it will change them from - to + It would go something like this...
#85<input from lock or unlock wire from command start
#86 constant fused 12v
#87<output to door lock wires
#87a not used

This won't make sense until you buy your 2 relays.

ok. thanks alot. is it a special relay? or just a plain one.

oh, and by the way. what do u mean by #85, 86, 30, etc??

ok. wait a minute. i got 2 relays. now. i was thinking. (i don't know if this is what you were talking about. but this is what i thought.)
2 relays, k? one on the lock output, and one on the unlock output. gound them both. attach 12v from the battery to the relay, (the switched part), so everytime the remote starter would lock/unluck, it would trigger the relay, sending the switched 12v to unlock/lock the door. This work? I only have 2 questions tho. Will -500mA flip the relay? and are the locks just plain jane 12v? like. When i hook it directly to the battery, i won't burn it out?

You are kinda right. DO NOT GROUND THEM! If you do, they'll constantly be on which is no good. You talk about the lock/unlock triggering these relays right? Well, inorder for that to happen, you much connect the outputs of the keyless to one side of the relay's coils. The 500mA from the keyless is plenty to get them to click. These are basic SMTP 12v relays that can be had anywhere. Stay away from cheapos from places like Autozone though.

See, poles #85&86 are the 2 sides of the coil. When one side sees 12v and the other sees -, it "clicks". When this occurs, poles #30&87 connect to each other making a complete circuit. So, if #30 is constantly seeing 12v, it now sends 12v to 87 which is where your output to your doorlocks should be connected.

FYI, when there is no power or no ground(can be either one or both), 87a and 30 are the compete circuit. Sometimes you need to use those too if you want to do things like starter kill, if you have 5wire lock systems, or like on a '05 Caravan where you need to isolate the white/tan wire from the parking like switch inorder to have the parking lights come on.

Anyway, take a 9v battery and a meter and play with a relay. Once you understand them, you'll never forget it.

ok. i took the relay and brang it out to my car. i hooked it up to the module and pressed the button to see if it would click. But it didnt. I'm guessing it ain't enough power. I'm not sure how much power it's giving out, since the time it clicks on and off isnt enough time for my multimeter to read properly. I'm stumped now. lol. any suggestions? I was thinking about putting a capacitor in there. would it help?

wait! i have a new approach! lol. its more electronical. lol. im gonna try using a TIP125 transistor.

For now, take poll #85 and hook it to the lock wire of the RS and #86 directly to 12v of the car and see if it clicks. If it doesn't take the 85 directly to ground. If it doesn't, you have a bad relay, if it does, you have a problem with the RS system. 100mV should be plenty to make a relay click.

the relays good. i was playin around with it for quite a while. but if i hook the 12v to it like u say, and hook it to the rs, (85 & 86) i can burn out the rs module.
