Hi, everyone,
I have a question about using rubbing compounds.
first of all, I gently wet-sanded my model car with #2000 and then rubbed it with the tamiya rubbing compound. However, i found that there's a lot of very very tiny circular scratches (it's very obvious when i take close-up pics of it) :screwy: :screwy: on the surface like real cars do. it's so weird. BTW, i painted it in black.
does it happen to any of you?
thanks

i recently tried the scratch x on a model that was painted black. the main spots came out like a mirror but the hard to reach areas stil have visible scratches. i guess you can keep going, but be careful not to rub too hard.

I would go even finer with the sand paper! The only way to get scratches out of a paint job is to sand them out w/ smaller scratches.

What are you using for a material for the polishing? Sometimes the material you use can cause those small scratches.
Also, how long has the paint been curing?

2000 is way to coarse! I would suggest something like 6500 at least, or 8000 then polishing compound.
