I just got back from running my truck at the track. My time in the quarter was 16.79 and 0-60 was 9.02. is that good or what? i have nothing more done to the truck than what is in my signature and i figure it weighs around 6500lbs. anyone else have some #'s for thier stock-erado's?

I don't know if it is a good time or not, But I do know your truck doesn't weigh anywhere near 6,500 pounds unless you had over 1,000 lbs in the bed. I have the same truck and on an official scale it weighed just under 5,300 lbs. The times sound right from things I have read about them.

If you look at his signature, he's got the HD chassis package. That adds a lot of weight. His exhaust is also most likely bigger than stock, making it heavier. It's also 4x4 and that adds a lot of weight. I have an 86 HD, and it weighs at least 6,500 pounds (welded-up reciever hitch, heavier springs, 1-ton rear axle). Mine does have metal where the new ones have plastic, but I don't think they save too much weight with plastic. I'll take mine to a quarry or a weigh-station in the next few weeks and see what it actually weighs.

And that is a pretty good time for a full-size truck, Similar to what mine does, but I just counted the seconds from a stop on a level stretch of highway. :)

Yeah i do have a 1-ton axle and 3/4 ton leaf springs in the rear but 6500 is just a guess. Next time i get a load of stone i'll get a receipt. however...last nite i went down to a local stretch of highway where we often try to find cars to race and i got beat by a 4.3L s-10. and i dont think he has anything done to it other than exhuast. i had 106 octane if it makes a difference or not but im guessing his truck weighs at least a ton less than mine and he has a 5-speed.

I did read his signature and seen he has a heavy duty chassis and like I said I have the same truck. The 1/2 ton Chevys with the HD chassis package consited of an extra leaf and the 14 bolt semi floating diff with 6 lug wheels and bigger rear brakes. It is the same diff they used in the 7,200 Gvw 3/4 ton. Chevy has never made a 1/2 ton truck that weighs 6,500 lbs. The new Hd 3/4 tons barely weigh that. His signature also did not say he had a 1 ton diff, But that would still not even put it close to 6,000 lbs. If I had to guess I would say it weighs somewhere around 5,600 - 5,800 depending on what extras are on the truck.

Siverado Brethern , Let me know what it weighs when you put it on a scale because I am curious. You should be able to beat an S-10 on the highway at least, But I am not sure from a stop. I just smoke one the other day and even slowed down to let him catch up and took off again all the way to the speed limiter at 100 mph.

I would think that it being a Vortec 350, it would run a little better. The ones I've seen are as fast as the new body style trucks, especially out of the whole.

All 4WD 1/2-ton Chevrolets since 1988 have 6-lugs wheels.

I probably should have been more clear on what I was trying to say. I didn't mean that the trucks without the HD chassis package didn't have 6 lugs. The 14 bolt 9.5" semi floating rear differential in the HD 1/2 ton comes in a couple different configurations and one of them uses 8 lugs. The C/K style Hd 1/2 and light duty 3/4 ton use the 6 lug version and the heavy duty 3/4 ton uses it with 8 lugs as the standard diff and the 14 bolt 10.5" full floater is an option. On the new body style the old 1500Hd used the semi floater with 8 lugs as did the standard 3/4 ton without the optional 10.5 " full floater. Today the 1500 silverados are no longer available with the 14 bolt semi floater or so I am told by Chevrolet and I have never seen one.The standard 2500 comes with the 14 bolt semi with 8 lugs and the 2500 HD uses the full floater.I should have been clearer because it sounded like I was saying that they didn't normally come with 6 lugs.

you shouldn't find any xtra pep in racing fuel on a stock engine.

Well, you know your stuff, lol.

I didnt want to sound like a butt hole, but being that I have a 92 K1500 4WD, I just wanted to clear up that 6-lugs on 4WD Chevrolets (and GMCs) are the norm, lol.

I actually didn't realize that some 3/4-ton C/K series trucks only had 6-lugs, lol. A guy that we race with pulls his car with a C2500 (somewhere in the 96-98 range with a small block) with only 6-lugs. I was thinking he must have gotten ripped off or that maybe 2WD 3/4-ton trucks only had 6-lugs during those models, but now I know he must have the light duty version.

I believe mine was supposed to be a mid 15 stock. I've never ran it at the track though.

S.B.

The only thing that 106 octane fuel is going to do for you is kill your cat. You won't see any performance gains w/ a stock motor. It will give your tailpipe that nice ash-gray color though. :D
