ok.. another day another problem.. my car starts up fine.. nothing wrong.. drives fine.. nothing wrong.. for like 5-7 minutes.. then all of a sudden it starts sputtering.. RPMs drop, oil pressure drops, and the car just dies. sometimes i can start it right back up.. sometimes when i go to start it back up it starts to kick over, but then it almost like backfires.. or makes a loud clunk sound.. what the hell is going on with it?? i really dont have the money to fix it.. and my truck isnt road worthy yet.. any ideas what it may be??

* i had a plug wire that was getting burnt a little, so i changed them all out.. there are no lights on in my dash..

the idle control is what it sounds like... when u first fire up a car it is set at high idle, then when it gets nice and warmed up it takes off the high idle. sounds like when the idle control goes off of high idle, ur car stalls. sounds to me like a vaccum leak somewhere, or idle control is messed up. but since there isn't any dummy lights comin on, i would say vaccum leak...

update..

the idle on my car drops down to 1000rpms after like 3 seconds.. and it would idle fine for a good 5 minutes at least.. then die.. it also happened when i was driving, so i wouldnt say it was that.. i changed out my plug wires the other day, checked and they were all on there tight.. everything seemed to be ok.. so.. i got pissed and figured, hell.. maybe its a fuel system problem.. maybe my injectors are clogged or somethin.. right? so i bought some Valvoline Fuel System cleaner.. went to the gas station and filled it up (had a half a tank) and magically it hasnt happened since.. and i drove to and from work today.. and in the time it took me to get to work it would usually stall out 2 or 3 times in a trip.

what im asking is that is there a posibility that i could have just had some bad gas?? and maybe mixing the good gas and the fuel cleaner made it better?

I agree , i had the same problem on my car a while back and i got a new throttle position sensor and it fixed it. I had to mess around with the throttle position for a while though to get a comfortable rpm when I started it.
I also had another problem that was kind of similar and it ended up being the mass airflow sensor.
