Is it normal that the AC will not turn on when the weather is cold outside.

I heard that it is a good idea to turn on the AC in teh winter to make sire that it is still working. What I noticing is that when I press the AC button the LED flashes 3 times and then turns off.

I believe this is normal, especially when the outside temp is below a certain temp, it prevents the ac from freeze locking. Mine does the same thing, and from what I have seen from many threads across all gm makes and models, many posts have had the same question posted

Completely normal. Temperature switch will not allow it to engage.

Defrost uses the AC system to dehumidify the air so using the defrost function from time to time will use the AC compressor.

Don't keep the controls on defrost, it will kill you fuel economy, only use it when you need it.
