Weekend Action

Hey All.

Unfortunately i'm a student, and as such i'm studying most weekends, but this weekend i was able to get out, and this is what happened.

8:00 i picked up my fiance and i'm takin her for some Italian food, of course we're in the Bonneville. (can't race in my fiance's sunbird!)

So we're rolling along the freeway at about 86km/h when i hear a fart muffler over the stereo and our conversation. I check my rearview mirror and i see this bright yellow CRX wil mag wheels and 2 asian kids comin up at a decent speed. I killed the stereo and my fiance says
"what?" and i'm like wait for it........ and as soon as the CRX got next to me i hit the gas and started pacing him. He looked over confused and downshifted for some more power and hit it. I touched the gas harder and kept pacin him. He was lookin at me like he couldn't believe some old car was pacing his riced out wheels.

At the red light after another 5 minutes of this, he puts down his window and i do likewise. He says:

"what the hell you drivin?"
"Bonneville SSEI, supercharged"
"you think you're hot stuff huh? take you to the next lights in my dust"
"bring it on kid"

And i laughed as i put my window up. When the light turned green i floored it and i was off like a shot, smoked him off the start. I guess he was tryna burn out or something, show off to his buddy while 'beating' me.

I kept me foot to the floor and pushed for all it was worth. I think he may have had nitrous oxide or a turbo or something cuz when he put it in his next gear, he shot up a few feet infront of me and held there threw his next shift while i maxed out second. but then my 3rd gear kicked in and i just started to leave him behind. i also think it's because by this time we were doing about 140km/h. i have a 4 spd automatic in the Bonneville so i've got the top end, and i had one more gear left and i just started to leave him be.

Once again, i've never lost to a rice rocket, and this one proved it. Though i did get a hell of sore shoulder from my fiance (she doesn't like me racing) but i told her too bad, STREET RACIN IS THE LIFE!!!

just so you guys don't get confused, when he caught up and held ahead of me, he was in about his 3rd gear going for 4 cuz i was in 2nd going for 3. i think that's probably what it was, but i'm not totally sure.

hmmmmmmm that crx put up alot better of a fight then i expected. hmmmmmmm i think he did a b16a swap. not sure. or maybe i'm just over estimating him. because there is no way a D series engine can keep up with your bonnieville. soooo i can pretty safely say that he did a engine swap. i woudln't exactly call him a ricer. since if that is true, i guess you can exactly call him a rice.

I couldn't tell ya what he'd done to that CRX, but it surprised the
hell outta me too. The engine swp sounds about right, but the fact
that he caught up and held infront of me like he did makes think turbo or nitrous. Probably nitrous, cuz he just shot forward.

Oh well, either way i whooped his ass, and i guess that makes him rice!!

i think we have to redefine what people thinks the term "rice" means. i love import cars but i can't stand rice boys. rice boys are people who knows nothing about cars and they do stuff to look cool. example putting a mugen sticker on a toyota. and so on~ get hte picture? its those guys that makes us import guys look bad. seriously no need to brag about beatin civics casue all you ahve to say would be "oh i just beat a civic, congrats" try racing some real import cars like the rx-7, the nsx, the 3000gt vr4, the 300zx tt, and the wrx. then you see that the japanese do make fast cars in fact, even a 2k2 maxima and the altima 3.5se would beat you. they run 14 second quarter miles. well the note is. not all imports are rice. and not all imports are slow.

I would have to agree with TatII on that. BTW; nice kill. Those SSEIs make good sleepers.

I was brought up a little different on the rice situation... the way I see it (this is the general consensus around my town I guess except for the few REALLY import freaks we got)

a rice rocket is any car... domestic or import... that is all stickered up to make it "look" faster or cooler or whatever or they have loud exhaust on their slow car, my favorite joke is how "the racing stripes add 5 horsepower" thats a good one...

a rice boy is one who owns one of these cars... doesnt know anything about cars at all...

however, we also have the rice burner, which is any car from Japan at all, its not really an insult, its just a reference to there being a lot of rice (the food) over there and the joke is that they use rice instead of gasoline hence the name rice burner... its actually kind of ignorant considering rice is from China, not Japan, but oh well...

I agree to the first part of your post , but i don't agree to the second. Why you're telling him to race rx7s , GTOs or Zs with a stock pontiac? It's not that his pontiac sucks , but it's not meant to be a sport car , just a sedan with big pulling power , and all the cars you have there are true sport cars , and they are made to go fast , accelerate fast , corner rather well and not caring so much about low end power , not being so reliable , and not caring for comfort that much. And cmon face it , cars like GTOs , RX7s or 300Zs are rarely stock... It's like you say that you're beating a 328 with a stock corvette , and i say to you , comon why dont you race some F40s , lamborghinis or porsche turbos? Europeans make fast cars in fact , even a M5 or manual S8 would beat you... Its a big difference

I've got nothing against imports, but i don't think you should be thinking you're all that if ya don't know anything about your wheels or don't
realize that you're stupid to try with that mind setting.

And just so you know........i beat an RX7 on the highway in the Bonneville, i don't know how heavily modified it was, but i had much more top end then he did. I was pushing 200km/h and he was just getting smaller in my rear-view as he startd to fall back around 180.
Keep in mind, the Bonneville was only about a 3rd of the way through
4th gear to boot, so i could've kept going to at least 235-250.

And maximas........they are fast, but you also need to know how to
drive them. I raced one the other day, though it was a bit of an older
one, probably about '99 just from light to light, second i turned, and
we were pretty even, i was only leading by about 3-4 feet as i got a better start then him.

I do agree that my car's not the shit, and i won't even try against a vette or an NSX, that's just stupid. But for what i can do, i do it. If
that means "making rice" then so be it, but the car's not as slow as
you may think.

Polygon, hell yeah it's a GREAT sleeper!
That's how i got the jump on the 5.0 '86 mustang i beat. He laughed an didn't try hard and i surprised the hell oughta him. I guess he just didn't how to drive either, as he couldn't make up the ground!!

hmmmmm 200km/h? lets sooo how fast that in miles per hour.hmmmm thats only 125mph. the RX-7 can do 155mph and it has a speed limiter. soooo one theres either something wrong with his bat. or two, he got scared after 125. cause the RX-7 has a pretty good top end.
