ive had the same flowmaster for a while now on my 94 and it was also on my last 94, there is a total of about 105K on the muffler. do they lose any flow after a long ass time or anything or am i straight until it rusts through or something, it still looks to be in good shape from the outside and it sounds great still. just curious if i should get a new one.

flowmasters are stainless steel, the won't rust... now wether or not they loose flow, i don't know, i wouldn't guess they would tho...

flowmasters dont have flow to begin with. naw, im kidding theyre alright. the only thing that might happen is carbon build-up but i dont think that would affect a muffler...

Flowmaster uses chambered mufflers. There is no fiberglass to blow out over time. Flowmasters are not made of stainless steel, unless you buy the stainless ones specifically, they are made of aluminized steel. Which too wont rust. As for flow they are alright. Flowmaster now offers the Flowmaster super 40s. These are supposed to way outflow the original 40s. This comes from flowmaster themselves. If you are looking for better flow you can look into many other muffler brands. I myself use Hooker Header's Aerochambers, these supposedly flow a lot better then flowmasters. It is all up to you.

yeah, to me flowmaster's are more about sound than about actual exhaust flow, but if you have a high mileage flowmaster muffler i seriously doubt that there will be any negative effects from it being high mileage...

i mean if u really wanted flow u could go w/ slp loudmouth or something. but i'm willing to sacrifice a few ponies to get the flowmaster sound i love

Just too bad you guys have to run with cats. Running without cats sounds soooo much better then with. Cats take away the chop to the idle and the pulse from higher rpms. Still sound fair though just not mean.

my cat converter is gutted, and i definately love how that 80 series flowmaster sounds, i just dont like the sound of other mufflers

Flows are great for sound, but I just think they are overdone. I wanted to be different and have better flow. I have Aerochambers and they sound pretty damn good I must say.

You'll lose oil pressure , ruin your valve and kill you mpg with only headers. Running only headers is for car shows and engine tests , Not permanent. It's extremely bad for your car.

True (exept the oil pressure maybe), I am doing some extensive work on the car that is why the rest of the exhaust is not on

Where did you hear that? I know running with just open ports is bad but since when was it bad to run with just headers? Perhaps doing such on a new car would twak out that comp a bit but I dont know about oil pressure and hurting valves!!! If you want to go fast just put a foot of pipe after the collector (long tubes) then you will get maximum power out of the ride. Just prepare for ringing ears and many headaches.

if your worried about the muffler getting stopped up over time then yes it will, a little bit. I bought a used exhaust from someone and I just made a makeshift cap out of rubber and put it on one end of the exhaust and turned it on and got quite a little bit of crud out of it, so if your worried about it then why not give that a shot
