software question?

Hi there,new to this photog site and have a question. Agood friend of mine just got a nikkon D70 digital slr package with 2 extra lenses and a bunch of stuff, and she wants to get a software package for her computer that will allow her to manipulate images,click and drag ,cut and paste, all that kind of stuff, without spending another thousand dollars.Any ideas? thanks

personally i use paint shop pro by jasc (www.jasc.com) for simple resizing and adding boarders etc. i've never used it for much more, but the new versions are supposed to be feature packed.
