I'm just going to repost what my buddy Mark posted on the Mass Driven (http://www.massdriven.com) board, because he put it quite well.
Well, of all people Craig decided to join the dark side of the club ( along with the other SHO, WRX, and SRT-4 owners ), but thats another story in itself. My friend CJ had this 93 SHO 3.2 ATX w/150k miles sitting in his driveway for about 9 months because he got a Saturn for an econobox. After many phone calls and some bargaining we got this baby for $450! The car ran great but the starter gave out the other night when we went to go pick up the car so it needs that, rear struts, a little bit of exhaust work, tuneup and she'll be good to go. The car is loaded with all the power ammenities like, power sunroof, power seats, factory JBL sound system, digital climate control and some other goodies. The car has black leather interior which is nice! The body has a few scrapes and scratches around it but there is no rust or anything major at all.
The best part of getting this car was taking it back to Craig's house! The car was dead as a doornail the morning we went to pick it up, so the next best way to get it back ? The BANGUS!! ( which is Craig's 95 Vandura pictured in the background ). We got a heavy duty tow strap, hooked it up the hitch on the van and the subframe on the car and made our merry way down RT20 at 11:30 in the morning. The best part of the trip was that he had to drive the van and I had to drive the car and provide all the braking and steering for the car therwise I'd smash into the van. Of course the only mode of communication was via cell phone and him telling me when to slow down and when to make a turn to changes lanes during this 2 mile ride of death down Rt20 in the middle of the day! All in all, not a bad deal, she just needs a little bit of work and she'll be out there all ready for me to piss all over ( that video coming up soon ). Rant over.
yes, those are chrome 3A racing tips too http://massdriven.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Yep but it is almost at 300K on the ticker, I need to either start putting some serious money to get it back into shape or get rid of it. Poor trooper is starting to get a lil ragged.
Here it is hiding behind the Stang:

What an adventure today. Replaced the fried starter, then tried to start the car. Turned over but would not run. Pulled the plugs and there was oil all the way up in the plug well, not to mention the plugs were black as black can be.
So me and my buddy pulled the top end, replaced the cam cover gaskets and threw in new plugs. Starts up a lot better, but I think there is a problem with the crank postion sensor now.
Few things I still need and the car will be just about 100%.
-Rear struts
-Exhaust, Cat back.

Let me know on AIM, this weekend if you have time maybe we can meet up and I can run my Electronic Diagnosis tool on your SHO, works wonders on mine for pointing out faulty parts. Also if ya bring ya video camera we can have a lil SHO race. :evillol:
Hypsi I already feel super cramped in the engine bay fuck a turbocharger lol.

Hey Bobby, thanks for the help today. I did a search after you left about the cam sensor. the code 214 (CID) we got in the cam sensor. It will also effect the tack too. Pulled this from www.shoforum.com (http://www.shoforum.com)
If it was the CID then you would have the hard starts, but only intermittently and when heated....plus rough engine performance, a CE light, no tach signal when the condition occurs and the engine finally starts (albeit badly)and most importantly a stored code referring to the CID sensor...code 214.

So what your saying is that me calling cam sensor about hard starts when I first got there is right? Or how I'd like to phrase it "I'am the greatest mechanic ever!!!!!!" :icon16:
If you can't find good directions about changing the cam sensor online let me know I'll get the one's from my Chilton's for you.

LOL it's easy to get this knowlege... Just get drunk, go out into the shop, tear something apart and put it back together and see if it blows up... If it does not, you learned how to disasemble and assemble something. If it does well, you need to do it again.
You will learn sooner or later

We had a 3.2 sho on our lot a few years back and it was a stick. It almost kept up with my bosses Bullit cus of a simple arguement about how quick (that ive heard of) sho's are. Up untill 100mph the bullit was only some car lengths away but kept sailing with excellent acceleration as compared to the sho. I sure enjoyed the shifting of the sho and it was a real treat to drive a taurus with a stick.
I own a 2000 pontiac grand am SE (please dont kill me) and its alot quicker off the line than the automatic 3.4 v8 sho's but handles worth a crap after 80mph. Unless the 3.4 sho and my 3.4 grand am have a rolling start the sho wont give me any trouble. I was stomped however on a roll start from 40mph with the taurus behind me , he quickly swooped up behind me both of us full throttle and made an awesome pass leaving me behind without a chance. Another thing I got to make clear is my grand am is not stock and the sho was bone stock and needs a tune up so Im sure the results would be alot different if he were to put new plugs , wires , fuel filter and pcv valve. I know this cus I smell gas and I reckon one of his cylinders isnt firing and it has a nasty vibration on idle. Can you suggest a good upgrade for tune up parts for his 3.4?
HighFlow5.0 I love that sho , I love that pretty white pony , please dont retire the sho there becoming a penny a dozen and we need these sedan rockets on the road opening up the valves above and beyond 6000 rpms screaming fury and pissing off grand prix gtp's.

I can tell you for a fact that the GTP's are faster then the SHO's. I actually like the GTP's a lot too, maybe it's because one of my good friends has one, with light mods.
Are you sure the SHO was a 3.2? Because stick SHO's have 3.0L motors and auto's have 3.2L motors.

I dont mind gtp's but they are restricted the sho is not thats what I mean by faster I mean my NA GrandAm is quicker off the line than a sho too but its a no contest for top end. As for the 3.2 sho with an automatic , I thought they were only automatics as well thats why I thought it would be an interesting topic to mention to an owner of one. Have a look around for converions for manual transmissions , I personally looked and for the life of me I cant find one for the 3.2's . Theres gotta be something cus I really liked that 93 taurus and it was alot of fun to drive the closest thing to it I ever experienced was driving my friends 98 svt contour stick and it was a bit quicker than the 93 sho.

No one has done a 3.2 auto block to manual conversion that anyone counting people on SHO Forums knows off. Unlike the Mustangs where the 302 block is the same for an auto and manual the SHO 3.0 and 3.2 blocks have completely different mounting configuration on the block for the tranny.
If people want extra cubes they bore or stroke there SHO motor for more cubes.

actually, quite a few people have mated 3.2 SHO engine to the manual tranny. I have even seen 2 modified SHO's on ebay with a 3.2 engine swapped in. And even a regular taurus wagon with a 3.2 SHO engine with manaul tranny and SHO body kit. Keep your eyes open, just because no one did it on a forum, dosent mean no one has

I am sorry for stirring the pot here this wasnt my intention. I was just thinking that since I drove a 5 speed 93 sho I should mention it and like I guessed its very uncommon to have a 5 speed however its been getting done for awhile. According to our shop foreman people who owned these nice cars and wanted more fun out of them without souping them up were paying top dollar for custom 5 speed conversions but he never elaberated on what 5 speed transmissions they used? Its like Lincoln LS's , the v6's were standardly available with a manual gear box but the v8's have semi-automatic or full time automatic transissions its your choice but theres no 5 speed manuals for them? Same with the new thunderbirds the 3.9's dont have a manual gear box available at all. One of the dealership owners is going to send his 2002 thunderbird to a transmission fabricator that can do the job as soon as he finds one. This is very interesting stuff I wish I knew the tecnical mumbo jumbo on transmissions cus in my mind since I know hardly nothing at all about them other than how to drive them. Sorry High Flow5.0 for the disturbance.

Until anyone one on here can show one shred of proof ie. pictures etc.., of a 3.2 SHO(auto) block mated to a SHO 5-speed manual I call complete and total BS!

A friend of mine had a taurus sho,and it had a lot of probs with the transmission, and a well known trans shop said you cant put a standard in one cause they had different engine to trans bolt patterns, and pin locations....among other things.
By the way i meant no offence to anybody (Meaning hiflow 50 or gtstang)with my earlier posts in this thread,or any other thread,i was just passing on what i had served to me in other threads on this forum.I knew i was crossing the line lol...I spell stuff wrong, and double post a lot,and i dont get picked on for that, wich makes this forum pretty lax anyways..o well during my *vacation as eclipserst put it,i read a bunch of archived posts from some of you guys,to find out who is full of beans and who isnt.By the way thanks for all the hate mail some of you sent,it really brightened my day to know i made so many people mad.....lol...

Its kinda funny what some people get offended from.Im not trying to step on anybodys feelings, hell man..cause i spoke up and said american cars aint so bad people gonna get all personal on me in the honda forum.. gettin mad and laughing at my escort, and getting all personal about it.That ZX2 is a good car.Its pretty gosh darned foreign man.I used to go mudding in my Festiva, goin places a full size bronco dont even go..im pretty sure that cars motor said suzuki on it,like 997cc or somthin.Ive been lookin for one of those, cause it was a cool car.One the first two pages on that thread, all it was is a bunch of honda guys doing some good ol fashoned american car bashing. And now a moderator just closed the thread over the fight it started,Ha! I think thats funny.Closing somthing that should have never been started in the first place.Ive made threads like that myself, and been like,uh oh maybe that thread wasnt a good idea, lol
