i have a 2001 2.5 RS with 61000 i use mobil 1 synthetic oil EVERY time.
My wife drives it 95% of the time. She told me there is a ticking noise whe its cold and tends to go away when its warm. So i drove it. I've herd buick centuries do te same thing and GM replaced the pistons and the connecting rods. it sound very much the same noise.
I've done all my own matainance so i fear that will backfire if i try to claim it on the extended warr.
has anyone hade to replace pistons , or anything else for this noise? :disappoin

that noise is typical of all boxer motors, its the ticking of the valves when they are cold, ive owned 4 subaru's and they have all done it, especially when cold, its nothing to worry about, its if it does it when its warmed up and your driving that you have to worry about. then you should bring it in to have the valves adjusted. so no worries my friend, its normal for subaru's

Forum search would've answered this question, I can't keep track of how many times I've answered it.
