knocking in motor

for the past few months my car has a knock in the motor , many mechanics say the lifters are bad , but when i bring the car to the dealer they dont know what im talking about , i do have an extended warranty , but im getting very irritated about this problem , should i call a lawyer if this problem is not fixed?

Lifters normally cause knock but if the dealer doesn't see a problem it may be break in. Go to another dealer and get a second opinion. The dealer gets paid to fix any warranty work therefore it's in their best interest to fix legitimate issues.

Sounds to me like the 'wonderful' intake problem might be what is causing your problem. Oil mixes in with the antifreeze destroying the engine(namely the cam and cam bearings making it run horrible and in some instances seize up) Definately go to another dealer for an opinion and raise hell till they do something about it. The 3.1, 3.4, and some 3.8 V6's have problems with the intakes manifolds leaking causing this problem and GM seems to handle it on a case by case basis. Good Luck and keep us all posted.

There is a difference between a knock and a piston slap. Piston slaps will go away after a few minutes; there are lots of previous posts about dealing with this annoyance.
