it should work fine. use the clutch, flywheel, starter and everything from the 5 speed. you will probably also need the metal dust sheild that matches the transmission. im not sure what the real name of it is but the sheild that goes in between the engine and trans.

Out of curiosity, about how much would it cost to turn my auto 2.0l into a 5 speed? I've heard anywhere from as low at 500 if I do it myself (which sounds really insanely low) to as much as 3000 if I take it to a shop and have them do it to be on the safe side.

you could do it for 500 with a junkyard transmission and a cheapass clutch. But its not something that you could do yourself if you've never even taken a transmission out of a car that's already a manual though (its not a job for beginners)

you need more then just the transmission. you need all the shifter linkages the trans, the clutch pedal assembly, the clutch hydralics, you probably need to hack the wiring for the transmission too.

Having a friend do this job to a 90 Laser I can say its not a fun task. As before stated you will need everything involved in the tranny. Your best bet would be to check a junkyard for one thats been recently wrecked, or try to find a car with a blown engine.
Work will take at least a couple days even if you have a few sets of hands. Doing the job yourself with no prior knowledge would be very bad, so I wouldnt recommend that unless you have a friend thats a mechanic.
