Finally it's been put on Tamiya's website. Hopefully the 350Z JGTC will follow. IMO it looks fantastic here and Tamiya quality and innovation seems to get better all the time.

Cool!

But I predict that rear wing will become as infamous as the JGTC castrol NSX front section... painting wise.

Reading the thread: "Naw, Tamiya will have some clever assembly order so that painting is no sweat."

Reading the site: "Oh. Crap."

it is a niceeee impreza but the ride height and rims is so :nono: hoping for the normal road version that hav a better rims and lower ride height

But the ride height and rims are exactly as they should be for the car that won the first ever Japanese round of the WRC. If you want something different, choose another rally.

Rear wing shouldn't be too bad, carbon fibre decaling rather than painting would be the way to go. Maybe would have been easier if they could've broken it down into seperate pieces.

Looks like real chrome taillight bezels, instead of foil sticker like the street STi. :bigthumb:

Or some company with the equipment will offer a pre cut carbon fiber decal sheet so all of the parts of decal fit just right. They may even offer a paint masking kit for it.

Must've been Peugeot seeking misiles then, missed the Citroens every time! :)

Tamiya seems to be taking great pride in declaring that it's a one-piece part. Don't they realise the heartache they'll be causing the more inept modelers like myself ?!?

Masking and painting looks like it could turn messy, I'll have to invest in more CF decals and try and find a bit more patience.

Seriously though, this does look like a very nicely detailed kit. I do hope the 350Z GTC is up to the same standards.

im sorry to say this, nothing against tamiya or subarus because i like them both, but i think tamiya may need to steer away from the subarus a bit and make a kit of something else cause there is a ton of different subaru kits from them, imo...

I too would have preferred a whole new tooling of an Xsara or 307. However the logic in Tamiya releasing the Impreza WRC'04 cannot be faulted. For one it is not a complete new kit, rather a tweaking of an old one, so that is much cheaper to produce. Much the same way Tamiya milked everything possible out of the 206 molds or Hasegawa has with the (kinda) 03 Focus. Second, the Subaru just won the first ever WRC event held in Japan. For the Japanese domestic market that must be a huge plus. Especially considering it is a Japanese car and driven by a very popular driver.

So while it may not be at the top of the wish list for many of us, it is the best thing for Tamiya at the moment. Heres hoping he best thing for Tamiya next year is a 307. :)

A 307 would be great! I will still be building this impreza 2004, just because I am a huge fan of Solberg.

Auctually i want a freakin' buildable Xsarra more than a 307. the Heller is crap and only Tamiya could get it right. There will be plenty of 307,s by other companies but im afraid the Xsarra is going to be forgotten about after this season. but if they do make a 307 i hope they mold a broken steering box for it as an option to make it more realistic :icon16: :iceslolan

Well said. It truly must be a success on the Japanese domestic scale model market as Hasegawa now have a Subaru kit on the way from the Japanese round of the WRC. It is supposed to be released in January 05.

It appears that the CF is only visible in the vertical parts and a little bit on the edges down there.

It is all carbon fiber where you see black. The light does not highlight the strands at that angle.
