Vehicle has a serious jerk when shifting from N to D

I bought a used Grand Vitara 99 model and when i shift from Neutral to drive the vehicle gives a serious jerk. N to R changes smoothly. I have checked the diff which is good and the engine mounts are also good. The tranny seems to be selecting the drive gear to hard. I also get the first to second pretty rough also. I am hopping its not a fault in the tranny but all indicators point to that. I have changed the fluid and the same problem occurs.

I also got stuck in mud once and noticed with the 4wd that the 2 front wheels spin where as only one rear wheel spins. Is this normal

Did you also change your filter? Almost sounds like that or your band is to tight,
As for 4 wheel drive, limited slip in back, (wheel with most traction)locker in front, both spin, hence the chirp chirp going around the corner.

Ill go change the tranny filter and talk to the mechanic about the band. I will post any changes.

I would like to know if the michelin rain master or pirelli scorpions are better tires for my GV. Currently have the tiger Paw bridgestone (waste of time).
