Well Boys, it's over....for awhile that is....

Well, as some of you may know, I'm on Probation. Or for the next few days anyway. Thing is, I wanted to stay home last night, but the boys pressured me to go out with them and hang out. So I got all fancied up and went out.

Later that night, I followed my boy Marsh back home in his Jeep. About two miles later, I got around Marsh, and turned at a light. We weren't speeding which is the stupid reason as to why I got pulled over. Marsh followed, and the next thing I know Marsh calls and he says there's a cop following us. Oh great, who's he going to pull over, the riced Civic, or a stock Jeep. So at the next light, I get in the left lane, and Marsh is in the right. Of course the cop pulls behind me, and I pull over.

Here's how the convo went:

Me: "Officer" as I nodded.
Him: "I pulled you over for numerous reasons back there. You were speeding, swerving in and out of traffic, and you were tailgating that Jeep."
Me: "The Jeep was ahead of me, which means he was speeding, I followed him up until this past light, and how could you tell if I was tailgating him?"
Him: "I could tell by the distance of your headlights. I tried to radio another officer to get him, but I couldn't so I pulled you over."
Me: "Well, to tell you these are custom headlights. Take a look. Makes the difference in distance." He didn't bother. So I said, "Why me? You should of grabbed him first." Marsh calls me and I explain the situation to him while the cop is standing there." He says he can comeback to clear things up."
Him: "Alright, I'll give him a citation too." Why am I getting a citation?Before I could talk to Marsh, the phone says "CALL ENDED". Bastard he hung up on me....

So he took my liscense and registration, and then came back minutes later. Gave me a warning for speeding, and improper signalling (I SIGNAL LIKE A FREAKING GRANDMA!!!). But he wrote the ticket for following too close. So I have to call my Probation officer and figure out what will happen. I've decided to take this to court and fight it. There's no way I'm losing my liscense over some BS like this, and you better bet Marsh is going to come with me on this one. Well, sorry it's not street racing related, but you guys are the people I spend the most time with in these forums. So I wanted to share that with those who are closest to me... :rolleyes: More

damn...that suckz...that is such BS...i hate that...it sounds kinda like what happened to me and my best friend...he was followin me back to his house...we both have cars with loud exhausts...and he was like tailgaiting me (he always does) and we both got pulled over...yea we were goin a lil over the speed limit...but no we weren't racing...the cop didn't even kno how fast we were goin...but he still gave us BOTH speeding and speed exhibition tickets...but he told us both we could take it to court and fight them and probably win...

Yeah man, fight the fuckin athoritah. They're a bunch of pigs with nothin better to do anyway. And christ, I mean, if you win, or if you lose (You better win:p) go have qa meeting with good ole marsh in a dark allyway, for a nice, polite, physical conversation. How bout it, uh?

You know it sucks that you did lose your license, but really what do you expect when your driving like that and being on probation for driving stupid, even if you do know the person your tail-gating. Plus another thing you should never do is argue with the officer or show them any type of attitude just appologize be sincere and don't say you didn't do it, you can play stupid and say you never realized but by telling him otherwise you really piss them off and it gives them a reason to drill you.

^ I haven't lost my liscense. I wasn't tailgating. Marsh can vouch for that. And further more, I may have been speeding, but technically he was ahead of me which isn't right for me to be pulled over especially when I was "going with the flow of traffic". And I was going about 7-10 mph over in that case, which is the reason why I got the "warning for speeding". I haven't set up a court date yet, which I won't be able to until next week. You have to wait no less than 5 days, and no more than 15 to set up a date. Late...

If my license was on probation, i would do EVERYTHING like a grandma, not just signaling. Another reason not to rice out your car :disappoin - cops would rather pull you over because you have already made it more than obvious to everyone that you want to race and speed. Which is why I'm goin for the low profile look on the muffler and no visuals(other than rims & FMIC in future) so I dont get pulled over. The popo are just money collectors, but if you bury your face in their ass and be polite when they pull you over, you can save a lot of trouble for yourself. Sorry to hear, and good luck taking that to court.

Cops are always looking fo reasons to pull over modified cars, its what they love to do....it makes the rod up their ass feel more comfortable.... Its just a ticket though and I dont think its a violation of anything....unless you were arrested for something seriously car related


other than that fight this to the bitter end, if not for your probation, than just to make that jerk have to attend the court procedings

Did you guys notice that it's like cops have ticket metapause??? Cuz it's like at the end or like begining of every month or soo, they're anxious to give everyone a ticket (cuz I gues they need a certain number or somthing for every month, which is what my dad told me), and they don't let anyone off, and they pull you over for the stupidest reasons ever.

yeah there quata which they say isnt true. when i got my citation i talked to some ppl and found out the cops and highway partol are writing all these tickets bc the more citations the faster u get promoted. Also going with the flow if traffic they dont give a damn if u were or were not. they just say well if everyone is jumping off the bridge should u? i know its bull shit bc if u are going slower then everyone u become a object in there way and pose danger but they dont care. But fight it i was also told a cop only shows up about 50% of the time when its minor adffences like that. If he didnt give u a ticket for speeding then u dont have to worry about that part.

i hate fucking cops that make there judgement on assumptions. were r they when u need them. we pay there salaries and still want more money. some cops are cool( 1%) the rest are a bunch of fools.

There is a really good chance the cop won't show up for that which means your off the hook if he doesn't show up like 3 times or something like that. Plus, just get ur friend to say you weren't tailgating him and that will help a lot i'm sure. oh well, good luck man.

That sucks..sounds like he was just being a dick and I hope you win in court. but some of you guys are being unreasonable..cops do have quotas they need to fill, they're people too, and they're people at work. That's their job. If they don't fill their quota...they don't get their full pay. So they'll come up with anything just to give you a ticket so they can put food on the table for their families. I agree, most cops are assholes..but hey..they're just doing their job.

I'm getting sick of the anti-police attitude in this thread, they are just doing their job. If you were breaking the law then shut the fuck up, you deserve a ticket. This comment is not directed at you Civ, more so the people that are bashing the police.

As for your case, good luck, the fact is that you were speeding. Any cop will tell you that it doesn't matter if you are going with the flow of traffic and it will be hard for you to get out of it.

When you go fishing you aren't trying to catch all the fish. That is the same for cops handing out tickets.

Well, the ticket wasn't for speeding. I was given a warning (I was only going like 5-8 mph over). That is why I received the warning for speeding, and they really can't give you ticket for even going ten over, just a warning according to my old Law enforcement teacher.

Yeah I agree, cops are doing their job, but at the same time they shouldn't have to pull you over for ridiculous reasons just to make a quota. But I was following my friend Marsh. If anything the cop should have pulled him over. I guess I was just unfortunate, but I have a good case against this, and Marsh agreed to come with me to settle the issue. To voices against one, maybe not even one. So I'd say my chances are pretty great in getting off the hook here. But I appreciate everyone's support in the matter.

As for the bashing on the cops, people need to make their money somehow to support their families. Even if it means being an ass to everyone around you. J/K. I know decent cops, and I know bad cops. They deal with a lot of crap day to day, and I can respect a lot of them for keeping a "decent attitude" towards everyone. If I were in their position everyday, I think I might be a dick too. But just remember they do put up with many hardasses, scumbags, and low-lifes. So atleast you can cut them a little slack for being the way they are. Late...

My advise is to hire a lawyer. I believe that the money you spend will be well spent, as the lawyer will more then likely be able to convince the court that you aren't at fault. Your buddy sounds like a knuckle head. I wouldn't speed to have you following me, knowing your situation. Oh well, what can you do, friends always put you in an uncompomising situation.

Don't count on the cop not showing up to court...when I got my stop sign ticket last year (I did a complete stop...really :D) my mom told me to go to court because the cop probably wouldn't show up and I'd win by default...sure enough, the bastard showed up, he had all the good stuff, I had nothing, and I lost.

Cops are money makers first and foremost, and most will do what they can get away with to get that money from you, even if it involves violating your rights(not all but most)...this is what they are trained to do. They can also lose their job if they don't use these tactics on us, and if they become an irritation to the dept. by complaining about the depts. policys worse can happen (our govt is not a wonderfull institution). Ever wonder why most of them are assholes? It's because they are selected for these personality traits, the govt. wants a person thats willing to violate you. They have a "them against us" attitude and are not to be trusted.

That post was stupid. Let me start by saying although I hate about 98% of cops, there are those out there that intentions are not to catch a kid doing 5 over to make money off of. One cop I knew (part of family of step mom) did anything he wanted all the time. He also claimed that he only gives tickets over warnings when the person was outright crazy driving or if they were an ass to him when he got to the car. Dont believe me? This is the same guy who had to break every rule our condo had when we were in florida. When I said "Kevin, we dont have a kid with us so you cant break the no baby diapers in pool rule" he went out and bought a pack just to toss into the pool. I believe our government doesnt give a rats ass about any of us as individuals, but to say they select cops on who will violate our rights best is bull.
