d16a6 or zc

im getting a zc this weekend but i was wondering which motor you guys think is best

ZC's suck. Get an a6 and boost.

I want to retract my vote because in your subject line you say "d16a6" and that is what I'd prefer...

i love my d16a6, it's nice and peppy for a stock ex engine :) i almost floor it from 40 and i get to 100 in no time :D AND that's with burning oil at WOT, needing a major tune up, and with 202k miles

i've heard that zc's have more problems

d16a6 for sure over either d16a1 or a zc.

Well i have a ZC DOHC and i regularly beat d16s however d16 comes in a crx and you have to install a ZC but as far as i know a d16a6 has 108 hp and a zc has 137 so i wouldnt say that they suck by comparison. a d16a1 has 113, and you can add boost to a zc as well.

Its more of a reliablity and parts available issue than a power issue.

i havent had any reliability issues and the parts ARE available however you do have to know what to ask for at autozone, also if ive heard of people getting a zc for 200 dollars and not surprisingly most of those people have reliability issues

yea ill agree that the zc has to be installed in your car where as a d16a6 is in it already and i had some problems but they were all figured out, something wasnt hooked up right or whatever, theres nothing inherently unreliable about the zc, theres plenty of aftermarket stuff that will work with the zc but again you have to do some research. the d16a6 is easier to work with for sure, i think that speaking just of numbers with money and time set aside the zc has more potential than a d16a6

i love my ZC :) yes it does leak oil but thats my fault. other then that its awesome :)
i agree theres no aftermarket support for it unless u get parts made for a rover or a zc (meaning shipping from japan) but meh, who cares? it gets me around and you can still get a port and polish, valve job, intake, header,exhaust, chip, toss in a block guard, b18a1 rods, and get forged pistons made, toss a turbo on her and have a grand ol time :)

And the zc would still be faster :icon16: Honestly there really is plenty of aftermarket support for the zc, its just not as easy to come by. Im on my seccond zc right now and im building my 3rd. And no, the first 2 didnt break or die or anything, i just keep building them differently. Lots of people are really impressed for the power I have with what money ive spent on it.

Emmissions would also be a thing to consider when trying to pass them.

I prefer to have a nice DOHC JDM engine sitting in the engine bay. Love my ZC. It's nice and fuel efficient when driven easy and is capable of embarrasing other cars when needed. Reliability has been great for me.

Um......yes it is, CRX Si in japan came equipped with the ZC
And, i have and aftermarket header and downpipe, PM7 Mugen chip, i plan to turbocharge in the next year. if you want to find parts for the zc, you HAVE TO DO RESEARCH, a lot of 88 to 89 integra parts work for it, and also a lot of d16a6 parts as well, and yea mine leaks a little too but thats also my fault

I've had my ZC for about 3 months now and haven't had any issues yet. I'm getting ready to upgrade the manifold & ecu in the next couple of weeks, as well as a header. From there on a few minor upgrades and then turbo.

^Its always good to get a header when planning to go turbo in the near future :screwy:

How about you guys save money and buy a B series. ZC's are junk....I have yet to get beat by one...even a turbo one.

Once you guys get out of the small time you will realize what kind of money you are wasting....

If you wanna do anything and single cam or fairly cheap, convert to obd1 and get a d16z6 or y8 and go wax a6 and zc cars.

how about you let us do what we want? because were going to anyways. not alot of people can afford a b-series swap, some people are more interested in a d-series. personally, i'm doing a d-series up and gonna see what i can do, even though i have a b-series sitting in my garage right now. i'm not gonna use it unless i get a free shell

it makes my car look different then the other guys out there who just keep stock headlights or projectors or whatever. i'm trying to have a more agressive looking car and make it more custom then everyone who just like to have stock front ends. its different and thats what sets me apart from like 99% of people

dude I'm w/Civichbsi91. D-series are aight, but w/the money you put into them, you might as well buy a B-series and have a better platform for mods. and, ur car would look 100% better w/out those homemade eyebrows, that don't serve a purpose.

im going zc i got the block and im just waiting for gaskets and rod bearings. You guys can make fun of the zc and say that it doesnt have any aftermarket support but it does. I have found a lot of stuff for the motor you just have to look a little bit harder. Im not going to turbo. I want all motor. I dont want to be like everybody else and run a turbo. Yea my rex is ugly but i dont really car what it looks like i just want it to run stong.

If you're really serious about going fast, and you put anything less than a B20b in your car, then you're going to be sadly dissapointed, bar none. I know a lot of people say "B18c, B16a" blah blah blah. Forget that, if you wanna go fast, there's absolutely no replacement for displacement, PERIOD. As for me, I'm going:

Eagle H-Beam Rods
Arias 9:1 Forged Pistons
B16a Head ported by portflow with custom turbo cams in it
Edelbrock/JG Victor-X Intake with AEM Fuel Rail
Sticking with all motor on a 75hp nitrous kit for a while, until I can save up some more money and throw on a turbo. My goal is to run consistent bottom 11's.

first off, if the noobs are pissing you off that much maybe you need a break from this place. serioulsy. there is nothing you can do about "noobs"...they will always be here, the same repeat questions will be asked. everybody is new at some point...including you civicHBsi91. it's not right to treat someone poorly and call them stupid simply because they are new.

you do have a right to your opinion. however, you do not have the right to repeatly tell somebody their car is stupid. not everybody likes the same thing. your opinion is your opinion....not anybody else's. just because you choose to do something, it doesn't mean everybody has to choose the same thing.

i don't like the zc, so guess what? i didn't put one in my car. i tell people all the time i had the choice between the zc and the y8 and i choose the y8 for <insert reasons here>. if the person still buys a zc then it's their engine to deal with. it doesn't effect my daily driving life. it is their lesson to learn. if somebody doesn't want to take my advice from the roads i have traveled, then let them remake my mistakes...including on engine choice.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, if everybody modded their car in the same way it would suck because we'd all be driving the same style. the only thing that matters is that the owner of the car is happy because only the owner has to look at, drive, and be seen in the car on a daily basis.

This is civicHBsi91 on a friends computer.

First of all how can I get banned after Ami gave me what I thought was my "last warning" then out of nowhere some mod that I have never seen in my life comes and ban's me after I said I was done with it all.

The first quote twospirits showed I was "attacked" and called a bitch first...wheres the punishment for that guy? no where...

The other quotes he shows...they really dont attack anything they are just my point of views.

I have been here for 2 1/2 years, I even joined before twospirits I have had no troubles till now...I get alittle pissed off its the holidays im alittle stressed yea I shouldent take it out on people on here but really me getting banned for this is really bullshit.

I have helped on AF more than I have ever "hurt" if no one believes me then I have one example of some of my contributions here because it was such a good and informative post I saved it.

Thats just a sample of some of the things I have contributed to. You know what You all can get an appology for me being alittle harsh here and there but my opinions on cars and zc's still stand im not gonna change that. None of you are expected to either. But me being banned is just plain unecessarry in this situation especially after I had my last warning and did nothing afterwards to be banned.

I agree that he shouldnt have been banned after he left and said he was done, He went a little overboard but he quit and then got banned. Some random mod shouldnt be able to come in an ban him after he has been talking to a different mod.
