Holley 3310-3 Carb Question

HELP!

Some bastard mechanic has f'd up my carb. The car won't run until it's semi-warm, and runs like crap after it's fully warm. ANYTIME you floor the accelerator the engine bogs down, have to let up otherwise it'll stall. I bought a Holley manual, I guess I'm really dumb b/c I can't figure where the hell anything is to fix it. From what I understand the "fast idle screw" is the culprit for the cold problems - (where the hell is the bastard), have no idea on the hot problems.

Questions:
1 - Could fouled plugs have anything to do with this?
2 - If I replace the spark plugs, what gaps would the new plugs require for a modded 454?
3 - Could a dirty air filter element be a factor (not filthy, just could use being replaced).

Also: I now hear a bubbling sound coming from the radiatior area when I shut the car off. I've added a set of gauges and the car runs 120-160 range so I'm sure it's not overheating, but what the hell is that noise? It's not like a boiling sound, It's a slow bubbling sound, like every two to four-five seconds you hear a bubble running up a pipe or something.

BTW: Finally got my clutch redone, $850!!!! (Including $130.00 towing and 425.00 for the clutch , etc). I'm still icing the goose-egg on the back of my head from when I passed out. The new one is nice tho -Centerforce Dual Friction. Howver, my car won't run well enough for me to drive the damn thing! I think I'm gonna hafta marry a female mechanic so that I could actually trust one!

Thanks

well, a tuneup is always a good idea if it can use it. new plugs wires air filter fuel filter, yadda yadda. as far as the carb, if you dont know what youre doing, you probly shouldnt make it worse, id take it to a different mechanic and ask to stand around and watch, youd be surprised what you can learn just watching.

No dough. Spent it all on clutches and getting the damn thing street legal. I guess I'm going to HAVE to figure this one out.

Any idea on the spark plug gaps? I think when I evenutally get the money, I will go ahead and do plugs, wires, etc. Thinking of going with one of the Edelbrock Pro-Flow air cleaners when I do it though.

I have the same problem woth my car....when i hit the gas it seems like a cracking noise comes from the carb and the car gets no gas....when i let up on the pedal it will get gas......if i dont it will stall.....

I have the bubbling noise also.....my water pump was bad so i changed that......havent really payed any attention to hear the noise yet.....

What's wrong with mine is it's a total piece of shit. I've since parked it, and thanks to some insight from IROC, I'll be changing the gaskets over January - April (tax season) when I get time. I'm also replacing the Carb to an Edelbrock Performer or Thunder 750cfm or 800cfm, haven't made up my mind. The Holley 3310 is listed as a 750cfm carb in a book I have so I GUESS I should replace it with the same cfm to keep my lousy 8 mpg. (AM I right on that?) Going to add a Edelbrock Pro-Flow air cleaner and replace the headers with a set of Dynomaxx ceramic coated 3"ers. Also considering replacing the plug wires, but they look brand new so I don't know if they need replaced or not. Am replacing the plugs themselves too. May do the water pump, $ permitting.

I'm HOPING this will resolve all my issues at one time. Although it's going to be a pain in the ass, and more money than I have to do it, but I can't afford to pay another mechanic anything with the total screwing I got from the last two. (Should've listened to you guys).

BTW: I would also like to replace the old rubber hoses with some braided hoses, etc, but am waiting for a catalog or two to see what's available, and pricing.
