Hi, quick question. I have my stock 16 inche rims and tires on now for the brutal michigan winter. I usually ride on 18 inch chrome Enkei rims in the summer time tho.. I know that this will affect the speed and quickness of my car somewhat, i was wondering how bad it would hinder my GTPs performance. I used them on my GT up until now, becuase that was an appearance car, not one built for speed. Now that i just got this GTP, i find myself in a Dillema; I love the way the rims look and so do a lot of onlookers ;0. But now that i have the GTP, im going for speed. Plus i think the wheels i have are to big for the way i drive which is aggressive and they are 18 inch with 50 MM sidewalls.. My buddy had this size tire on his GT for years and never ruined a strut or anything... but i think it messed one up on my GT becuase it only has like an inch of clearance till it got to the top of the strut.. I really love these rims but they weigh like 35 pounds a piece with the tires on. What to do??!??!

i think this only something you have to worry about if your doing some professional racing, where the tire weight might be part of car setup, not occasional drag racing. in this case a couple pounds ain't going to make much diff and if was top speed you were concerned about the thing that you would be looking at would be tire width. what kind of speed are you looking top speed, 1/4 mile or autocross?
