Whats Better Than Bondo?

Everyone has a really bad opinion on bondo, what else would you use to fill in holes?

What type of hole are you filling in? I have done a lot of body work and paint work and I can assure you that bondo is perfectly fine as long as it is applied correctly. Some auto manufactures even use it on their cars at the factory to blend the spots where different body panels meet. Ie: like the rear quarter panel where it meets the roof etc.Post up what exactly you are trying to do and I can tell you exactly what you need to use. ;)

Alright, I've got some rust breakin through on my sunroof, toward the front, there's a really huge hole, and i was gonna use bondo and then get some color matched touch up paint after i filled it in. I've never done body work before, I was wondering how i would go about this.

I was thinking to buff it all out maybe with a wire brush bit that fits on a drill, and filling it in?

No, i wouldnt do that, from the sound of it you would have to use tooo much bondo and therefore it would crack, make a plate out of sheet metal, cut out ALL the rust and weld the panel in, grind the welds smooth and if needed use one or two THIN skins of bondo to make it perfect, prime then paint, and your done

Wow I was thinking hole meant dent lol. I was not expecting an actual hole! You can't use bondo like that it will fall out, do what is mentioned above he is right. Just make sure the bondo never gets more than a 1/4" thick when you skim it over the plate.

I am talking about little dings all around the car. If I fill them in with bondo, will the bondo crack seeing as it gets pretty cold in North Dakota?

ok, misunderstood what your were saying, the rust HASNT completly broken through, meaning no hole yet, ok, then yes bondo should do the trick, but make sure ALL the rust is gone or the rust will just spread and make things worse.
