83 Berlinetta Fuel line/Stall problem

I have a 83' camaro Berlinetta V8 305 5.0 liter 4bbl.

I have had this problem for about 1.5 years but now it is really a problem. When Im accelerating usually above 2500 RPM my engine starts to shutter and then stalls. It is af is the engine isnt getting gas properly. I have a full fuel tank so it is not a matter of the amount of fuel I have. I have replaced my fuel pump because it was cracked and spilling gas. So I dont believe it is my fuel pump as well. I have taken it in to a trans place to get the trans rebuilt so it isnt my tranny, and my carb has recently been rebuilt as well. I believe it may be a problem between my fuel tank and my engine.

I had a clogged fuel sock from my tank replaced before, so I think it may have something to do either with my tank that may be clogging the line, or it is something within the fuel line path.

Does anyone have a remedy for my problem?

sounds like an improporly tuned carb to me, but it could be trash in the fuel line. you could try a can of fuel treatment, like injector cleaner, that stuff is made to break down the varnish and resins that build up from the fuel, so it could be something like that. Also, it could be a distributor problem. are you sure your advance weights are functioning proporly. if you open up the bores, and the engine speed starts rising, but the distributor curve stays the same it could cause it to run like crap. dont know if it would be bad enough to cause a stall.

heres something else its not much of a problem but I think it may be related with the carb. When I start her up in the morning for the first time the rpm's run high as usuall to let the engine warm up. But they dont come down, Ive driven for 30 minutes and by that time the engine is sure to be warmed up, but when Im about to turn the engine off it still runs high idle numbers between 1,000 and 1,500 when it should be around 750 or so.

I dont know, but could it be an off shoot of my stall problem?

see my post about 2 weeks ago about a 83 berlinetta v-6 same problem at about 1500 rpm or so. i'm leaning toward rust and crap in fuel line. I hope to soon blow out the line with air or just to bypasss it with rubber hose fuel line. I was also thinking about the distributor. going to do the fuel one first, then fuel pump and then distributor not much else left for me as everthing else is new. any other thoughts out there.

Well I got the issue fixed... I think this may help many people with the same problem. At first I thought there was something wrong with my fuel line some where, so I observed the line from my tank to my carb, and I noticed that the rubber hosing from where metal line ends to the fuel pump was cracked. I replaced those tubbing, and I replaced my fuel filter just to be sure that wasnt the problem...

While I was working on my fuel filter I noticed one of the Vacum line connections going into my Carb was disconnected. That was the whole problem right there I was loosing vacum pressure at higher speeds/RPM'S I reconected that fitting and added some fuel system treatment just to be sure, and now my baby runs just like new practically. So if any one here has the same kind of problem I stated then Id check your fuel line and vacum connections.

Unfortunately I dont know what the actuall item is called, but its the main vacum line that was disconnected. They are the small hard plastic lines througout your engine(about an 1/8" in diameter) they arent very pliable, and they have rubber fittings on the ends of them at right angles. So if you have any of those disconnected find where they connect and hopefully that should do it.

Im just happy my car is running great now :D
