Erratic Idle....????

Just completed a F22b1 swap after my other f22b1 decided to throw a crankshaft bearing.... Got it in and everything is smooth but there is an Erratic idle while in park. Once in a great while it happens while driving..goes from 1000 rpm and jumps to 1500 rpm, then back down, and up again.....Will happen about 3 times and then it smooths out to the normal idle speed. Happens while warm after driving most times...My guess is some kind of sensor??? Havent run diagnostic's but will soon....

IACV or Intake Air Control Valve

I have the same problem on my H23, except mine usually doesn't stop lol.

I reset the ECU by taking out the fuse and disconnecting the battery for 15 mins. I then took a city drive, highway drive, and then pushed hard on the motor threw second gear a couple times. Reseting the computer only seemed to make it worse. It will only jump from 1000-1500 while not under a load ( i.e. Neutral, Park ) , It does not do it in drive. Everyone still agreeing its the IACV??? If people still vote IACV I am going to pull that off in a few days and clean it. Any other possible causes?? Thanks

The IACV is where I would start. 90% of the time it is the problem with the erratic idle problem ;)

Well I've seen your post on how you have to replace it, I swapped my motor and while driving from my friends shop to my home, I was very very low on coolant. Could this have caused it to go out completly?? Im going to just try the cleaning method. I tried running OBD but when turning the ignition on, the engine light just stayed lit up and didnt blink

You must have been doing it wrong then, how exactly were you doing the OBD?
Also yes coolant will affect the IACV, it works off coolant.

I think it was you who posted...." Low coolant can cause it to overheat... "...also...Im using a paperclip ...I've done it before on the old motor......2 clicks on the ignition forward...So I had low coolant but then filled it, and it still does it...

But the MIL still does not blink and display a code?
i wouls try to clean the IACV or maybe even replace it with the one from the old motor if you still have it.

you m,ight also want to check your TPS. with TPS in the wrong position, or damaged.. it will allow the motor to rev higher at idle... also it is normal for your motor to spin up to 1,500rpm idling on a cold start.. this allows the engine to heat up faster so you can drive away sooner on a cold day.. low coolant should not make your engine rev higher.. if it was the fault filling it should have solved the problem..

low coolant can cause it, and after you fill it up you need to bleed the air bubbles out of it also, i would also check the idle air control valve...

the coolant was'nt so low there was none in the reserve tank was there? if so fill it up.. and check it daily.. if it goes down at all you have a leak.. bleeding the air out of the system will be a pain..

??? Correct me if I am wrong, I believe the above is a false statement.
Please explain how does the IACV works off coolant in a F22 engine.

dude, just run a diagnostic test using gas analyzer. We need to know what is your CO2, HC, CO, O2 and if possible NOx so we can analize why your engine is acting up.
