Temperature Flash & 325/328/330

I have two pretty simple questions (i think)

First, i have a 95 325i and sometimes when its cold out i notice that the temperature flashes on the OBC and a beep is heard. This happens usually when I first turn on the car and its usually around 37 degrees I believe, although i think ive seen it at around 27 as well. I have seen this happen on the newer 3 series models as well. What does this mean?

Second, I am wondering about the difference in power that you can feel from a 325 to a 328 or 330. I know the 330 is significantly faster than the 325, but what about 330 compared with 328 and what about 328 compared with 325? The reason I am asking is because I am thinking about selling my car and buying an e46 328 or 330 and I'm not sure which one.

second . . 325i has an 2.5 motor - 328 has an 2.8 motor - 330 has an 3.0 motor difference . . yes . .

so, why does it beep sometimes when i turn on the car and its below freezing but not other times?



for 2nd question, if i feel that the 325 is a bit underpowered, do you think i will feel the same about the 328? just wondering your opinion because i havent had the chance to go out and drive a 328 or 330 yet.
