saturn kill

one of my friends had an older saturn coupe with auto tranny,it was pretty quick and had a performance button.This other guy i met had the same type of saturn but a 5 speed..i told him i wanted to run,so he got in his car and followed me to a road where there isn't anyone around.my sentra is auto so i put it into 1st and i told him to go on the 3rd honk..1,2,3 and we go from 25 to 70 mph and i had him by 5 cars atleast.. i figure he just doesnt kno how to race b/c my friend in the auto saturn did a lil bit better. BTW i am stock.

is it a se-r? what is a performance button?

my car is just like the se-r auto but doesnt have the same look or suspension package.basically its the se-r auto with the gxe look except for the muffler :) ..as for the performance button,its availible on the saturn with automatic trans.it makes the car shift harder and at higher rpms.

It is very similar to what is coming on alot of high end sports cars that only offer automatic. They usually have a "sport" "race" and "weather" selection for how the auto with shift.

As far as the auto beating the manual Saturn my friend's have Saturns and the auto will beat on the manual all day long no matter how good the driver is and the manual has no muffler, gutted interior, no glass except for the windshield, and a redneck cold air intake...it's a demo derby car.

I understood you claiming that Saturns have some kind of miracle auto tranny, but the whole manual demo derby car threw me off.

I was just explaining why the manual Saturn was completely gutted. Sorry if that post was hard to understand I was really tired when i was typing it.

thats what I was thinking, it probally just had a bad driver. I mean lets look at a corvette for example. Everyone claims it has an awesome auto tranny, however, it would stil lose to a manual.

no i dont have a gxe or se-r,i have the 2.5 limited edition..i have the qr25de engine :) but i also have an automatic transmission :(

Whats so strange about a 2.5l sentra taking a saturn? Whatever they come with(2.0 1.6 or 8 whatever) its not exactly a powerhorse. They are economy cars taken to the extreme.

hey i like the performance button.. :) and the saturns are 1.9L and have like 127 horsepower but they weigh as much as a mini.i think on a good day they can run about 16.5

the performace button was almost as good as a story told on here once about a guy bullshitting another that the R on his auto tranny display meant RACING!

Thd older supras, like the MKIIIs have a "performance" button. Doesn't really do anything. I believe probes have them as well. I didn't feel any difference. Its probably just a marketing cover-up for the overdrive button.:lol: Makes people believe they will fly if they push it. I guess if you have a world full of idiots, then sell stuff idiots will buy. The only power button I have is the pedal on the right. Not much there either.:lol2:

your not suppose to feel any kind of boost it just allows the tranny to shift at higher rpms and when it does it shifts hard,sometimes chirping the tires.i have drove one and yes there is a difference.

Simply shifting at higher RPMs won't necessarily make you accelerate faster. Once you hit the peak of your power band you need to shift. If you don't you're simply wasting time when you could be putting more power down and accelerating faster.

alright so if u had the saturn and u were goin to race someone would u turn on the performance button?
i've notice when i raced against my friend that he pulls harder at higher rpms when he uses the button.

Well, I would do some serious testes to find out which is really faster, using the button or not using the button. I'm not saying that is doesn't make you faster, I'm just saying that it might make you slower depending on when it shifts.

I thought most of that stuff was controlled by the car. I drove a V6 camaro and it shifts higher depending on how much you press the throttle. Once again, I think the performance button is there to sell the car.
