i heard from one of my friends the 2g FWD DSM's (GS-T, TSi) are governed at 130mph. Is this true?

why? the tires? can it be easily taken off with some ecu tuning?

yes you need "Z" rated tires to surpass the safe speed of 137 on "H" rated tires... if you buy Z rated tires then it is ok it remove the govenor, look on www.dsmtuners.com, www.vfaq.com and http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/ to search for ways to remove it ,from what i remember it is quite easy....

Im gonna get a set of Pirellis so that takes care of the tires, but would i have to ship my ecu in somewhere to get it modified, hence not drive my car for a week or so?

nope , its a fix that can be done in about 30min ,there are many articals on how to take it out all over the internet. As i remember its a simple snip of an ecectrode...
