Need answer to ???

I bought a 2001 Eclipse GT for my son. There is a small black box mounted on the inside of the windshield behind the mirror. CAN ANYONE tell me"what it is???"

inside windshield behind mirror....a more specific direction would be wonderful,
if you mean the rear view mirror it may be a temperature setup thing, in that case i don't have one and can't give you any further insight

Yes there is a cable type wiring that is coming out then goes up and under the headliner. I can only see about an inch before it disappears under the headliner.
The box is abt 1 1/2 x 2 1/2, I cannot see any place to open it and since it is mostly behing the rearview
mirror I cannot get into it.
Maybe it is for temperature reading or something???

i think i have that same kind of box on my windshield. but mine is over at the driver side A pillar. i think it has something to do with my alarm system. it was already installed when i got the car so thats just a guess. do you have an alarm??

It only came with a single key and they did not have the remote..........Bought it from a wholesaler so I could ot get alot of history. I thought maybe it was an option that someone also had........

not me, the only option i got...actualyl come to think of it i have the absolute BASE GT eclipse so just the standard sunroof, infinity sound, cd player, and keyless entry, i don't even have an alarm !!! when i get some money i'll get a viper setup

no i have the absolute basic base GT eclipse. no sunroof, no infinity sound. i bought it used so thats how i got the alarm

give us a pic!. . . maybe the previous owner thought it would be funny to put a little black box on the windshield just so that the next owner would go crazy trying to figure out what it is. . .?

lol that would be funny ... mine had a toggle switch under the steering wheel ... I got bored one day and traced it just cause it was bugging me and it ran to the trunk... don't know what they had it running too factory deck was still in there and when I ran the convertor off the 6x9s there was no sign there was anything ran off them incase that was their way of turning their amp on and off..

I will try to get a pic soon, maybe after holidays.....I thought it was something from the factory, now I am really confused.......LOL

Maybe I should check to see "what's" inside the box, if I could figure out how to open it without using a hammer!
