Hey I jus got a civic i got the stock engine and everything and like it. I dont know a humengous deal about cars but i do know some. I was thinking me and my friend would split the costs etc.... and go buy a motor and a junkyard and rebuild it. I think it would be a great learning experience and I realize it would proabley take a couple of years if not longer. But my question is what type of engine should I get. Should i get the h22 or the b16 im just not sure. It will proabley be going into a civic mabye around 98-99 but thats along way down the road. And also I want something I cant find parts for etc... I want to try to get something fast and realiable but since im a beginner i know that is not nesicarrly going to happen. And about how much do engine run for at junkyards? Does it usually depend on the condition or the junkyard? Thank you for all the help.

the splitting costs with a friend thing is generally a bad idea

^Agreed. Splitting anything valueable or meaningful with a friend is bad in most cases. lol. I'd go with the B18C if you want to be on the safe side as far as cheaper parts, easier modding (which in this case could resemble reliability for you)
