What a joke...
I just called to see if I could test drive a C5 Corvette Z06, and this "Doyle Warren" asked me "Corvette G6?" .... when I finally managed to wake him up and realize that there are Z06 versions of the Vettes, he said they don't have any but they do have a C6 on the lot. I asked him if I could test drive it, to which he replied that they don't just let people test drive their cars, unless they are actaully interested in buying it. I told him that I am, and he went on to say that I will need to pass a 'qualification process.' When I asked him what that process entailed, he asked me if I am a previous Corvette owner, I said "No, I am a current Nissan 350Z owner" and not surprisingly, he response was that of total ignorance - "A what?"

So did you tell him he wasn't "qualified" as a Chevrolet Sales Rep?
Sorry to hear that you didn't get any "qualified" help.
Geez, I really hate it when I go to buy something, and I know more about it the the guy who is supposed to represent the manufacturer. Unfortunately, this happens more times than not.
At sears I went in to replace a broken 3/8" drive, 5/8" socket. The cashier, a young girl, asked me if I had the receipt for it. I explained that it's covered for life, and I don't need a receipt to replace a craftsman hand tool. She called her supervisor, who explained things to her, and sent her to get a replacement for me. She took the broken 3/8" drive socket with her, and returned with a 1/2" drive 5/8" socket, and it took both the supervisor and myself to get her to understand the difference between the two sockets.
...and forget about stores like Wal Mart or K Mart...

I tried to test drive a new Beemer some years ago. The salesman ignored me. So I went home and took off the jeans and put on a suit. Guess what; another sales person, (same dealership) not only let me test drive a 740E but wanted to know if I cared to keep it overnite! I guess I clean up well.

hey IGOR@AF, go back to the same dealership, ask for the service manager, and ask for the district rep. phone #, or e-mail. go home and call him or her. Yea some are women. explain the problem you had,and at what dealership. also get the idiots name that didn't let you test drive the car. YOU WILL shake up the entire dealership, and I'll bet they will kill themselves trying to help you next time. I'm talking from experience. Hope this helps...Later, Mark

New car buying is a bad investment, (up to 50% depreciation in 2-3 years) but if you must buy...
Don't ask for a service manager, ask for the new car FLEET manager, tell him you a serious buyer who is able to afford the car & one who needs to have a test drive to see if the Vette is for you...
He would tell by the tone of your voice (& Having a 350Z) that your well worth his time...
Car sales people at dealers are 99% worthless and out to make as much as they can and offer little else to help you make a good move.
Most sales people are recent hires who aren't car people, but just people out of a job and trying to make a buck. The dealer won't care much, they just recycle sales people trying to find a few who can sell...The guy might already be out of a job...

yea car dealers suck, one time I asked to see if they had a 300zx and the guy was like "no, but we do have a 1992 240z for sale!" Then i said "oh you have a 240sx? Tell me some info" Then he went on and still kept calling it a "240z"

Thoroughbred Chevrolet is a great dealership to buy from! I'm surprised that igor@af had a different experience. I see that this was a few years ago. I just bought a '08 Z06 from this dealership and the sales and management staff couldn't have been better!
