98 explorer no dash lights

my 98 explorer has no insturment lights....the cig lighter doesnt work....radio works and displays clock but has no night illumination....heater controls have no light....everything else works....i checked the dash fuse panel and under the hood...no blown fuses....but the #33 fuse in the dash has no power to it....i believe it is to the day time running lights....could the dimmer switch on the dash be bad???.....i just dont get it....thanks

your headlight switch is bad. i had the same problem. replaced headlight switch and all was fixed.

Before you spend any money changing out parts ,try this. Disconect your negative battery cable for 10 minutes. Hook it back up and see what happens. All the dash lights,door locks...etc etc are no longer hard wired. There is a communication cable running from one module to the next. Each Module is responsible for controlling different accessories. Sometimes the modules get a brain freeze and don't know what to do. When you disconnect the battery, it sort of makes the modules start talkin to each other again. This is true of all newer vehicles. Not saying this is the problem, but I had a similiar problem on the wife's caravan and it cured it. If it works, you saved yourself some bucks. Good luck

if you can email me a wiring diagram of the light circuit, i can figure it out.
