Simple Question

what is the SAFE operating water temperature a stock d15b? i just got a little water temp gauge because my stock one gave out...anyway while just crusing with little traffic it reads 160F ish and while in heavy traffic it does a little past 170F. I noticed when it gets that hot some smoke comes from the valve cover area, but i was thinking maybe its the cheap silver/gray hi-temp paint just burning a little? ( just painted it recently)

appreciate your help! :p

thats normal, in fact those temps are a little cooler than stock. as for the smoke, no clue, park it when it starts and look under your hood.

Pop the hood and see where the smoke is coming from. Paint usually puts off black smoke when it gets hot.
