stuck in 1st gear

ok,I have a 91 escort gt 1.8.I was driveing on the freeway and I heard a loud bang,I found that the bang was my driver side half shaft,gone.So I put a new half shaft,and now it is stuck in first like I can only shift into first and when i'am in netraul it's in first I am lost?

check the linkage, might have bent, broke, came loose.

I cheked the linkage looks fine some one told me it might have somthing to do with shift fork?
