Custom Sub Boxes

Just wondering if you guys had any idea how to make sub boxes that fit on each "indent" in the trunk. Cavy's dont have much trunk space so id like to conserve as much as I can. Thanks for the help.

Fiberglass an box around the area you want..

If you like playing with fiberglass. IT'S FUN!!! Go get some mesh wire, triple-layer it, shape it, cut it, shape it, cut a hole, test it (make sure it's big enough to hold the speaker before you glass it in, LOL!), slap on the glass, etc. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to make a custom body kit.

OR USE WOOD, it's easier, not as messy, but also less fun.

Id love to work with fiberglass but the truth is Ive never used it before and i wouldnt even know where to start. So if you think I should go with wood instead let me know...

wood works, but it can also look like a chop job... glass is all custom work.. much better.

Wood may have slightly better sound but like he said, it's easy to make it look like a "chop job" because it's all straight and you're tyring to make it fit in a curvy area, plus wood would be a little heavier.

Glass is 100% custom, all yours, talk about bragging rights!

If you use glass, your first try may not be what you want it too be, but then you'll have some experience to make the final work bettter, let me know how it goes!

how do u go about makin it fiberglass like what materials would i need

Yeah I second that man... You guys know of any good sites that give material lists or procedures or anything?

Unfortunately I don't, but look around, do a search, you should be able to find some "how-to" sites, or maybe someone's done and has a site showing how they did it. Good luck, let us know which site has the best instructions.

Fiberglass matting, resin and a good respirator..lay down some foil wrapping in the area you want to glass. Make a first coat of resin to harden the area so it can be removed. tear apart some of the glass matting and lightly cover the first coat... soak glass with more resin and let dry... continue till you can be able to stand on the product or however much thinkness you want.

at autzone they sell fiberglass repair kits would one of those work to make a fiberglass box?
i may try it when i get my new subs outa layaway at walmart wich subs and an amp is the only upgrades ro my factory system i have

You can add some Horse Hair Fiberglass into the mix for strenght and use the woven matting to top it off. Start by making a wood frame. If you want a coutoured enclosure then make some rings that your subs mount perferclty into. You'll want MDF for this. Then arrange them how you want and then make enough support from them out of wood and brace them together, you want it to be rally sturdy and be able to support the subs weight. Then put a fin mesh over it or some potato sack material stapled to it and then lay on the horse hair first, soak it with resin on a 3" paintbrush and then continue to cover it all. then put the matting on top of this and soak with resin (not dripping though, it will start to go transluscent) then leave it to cure until it's rock hard and then put a layer of body filler all the way over it and then just sand this smooth. Than prime and paint and screw in and hook up your subs. Job done.
