Changing The Headlight In 1997 Escort?

Hi, The Driver Side Headlight Bulb Is Out On My Car; I Don't Know Much About Fixing This Kind Of Problem. Is This Something I Can Do By Myself? Any Tips/advice?

should be a light bulb that twists into place and a wire clips in place on the bulb. I found walmart is the cheepest if you buy in a set. just dont touch the glass of the bulb with your fingers use a rag if you need to handle the bulb. the llight near the battery is tricky you may have to move the battery out of your way if you have big hands.

ok i can't locate anything that looks like its attached to the bulb....is it something i should be able to just reach in and remove with my bare hand?

There should be a black plastic cover about 3 inches in diameter directly behind the bulb. Twist it counterclockwise. Remove cover. Now you have access to the wiring. On top of the wiring harness is a double tab you have to lift up on to remove the wires. After this there is a round locking clip that holds the bulb in place. Rotate it counterclockwise. This should give you access to the bulb. Pull straight back and the bulb should come out easily. You should clean the glass surface of the new bulb with a lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. I once took it for granted that the new bulb was clean and it wasn't. It exploded in my headlight housing and I had to buy a new headlight assembly. The procedure for putting the new bulb into the assembly is the reverse of this. I hope I have helped you.
