catalytic converter

OK, here goes.
I decided to restore my '83 C10 (305 4bbl VIN H long bed) and my project right now is the exhaust and pollution control systems. Here's some back history. About 6 months ago I got a really good custom dual Flowmaster setup. It's solid and sounds good. I would like to keep the duals on, even though there not stock, but I don't want to waste it.
So, how do I do the catalytic converters? Can I run two? I don't know very much about the pollution control system, so where does that line go to that comes off of the cat and can I tie the two (cats) in together?
Do any of you know a good high flow cat to make it run ok
Any restoration tips or help you can provide would be great! I know this is a big project, but its what I want to do right now. Thanks!

In PA if you want to run a true dual exhaust you need two cats. 1 for each side.

Two cats is what I wanted to do. So here's another question. I measured the width of my tailpipe and it was 2 1/4", most cats that I looked at on the internet are 2 1/2". Do cats slip on and bolt or are they supposed to be welded? Do I get a 2 1/2"?

you can bolt them, i'd weld them. you can get cats in a number of sizes i have a 3" one on mine but i have 3" pipe all the way out back. to answer your question if you get cats bigger than your pipe any half ass muffler shop will weld it on for you. 1/4" isn't that big of a difference.
