I have a DR-Z 125. I have a Pro Circuit pipe on it, and thats it. I was wondering some of the other things I could do to make it faster/quicker. Also whats a good croch rocket for someone with 3 years of experience. Less than a grand please

Geez man, I didn't think there was anything that could make a DRZ125 faster!!... lol.... just kiding..

If you weigh more than 100 lbs you probably won't get too much hit out of that bike. It is just too small of a motor. (don't try to make it run like a 2 stroke 125, it just plain won't)

as for the crotch rocket. I wouldn't know. check the other forums for input on that.

whats a good 2 stroke you can get for less than $500 with a decent aftermarket and somewhat easy to work on

that all depends on

what kind of riding you do (MX, enduro, trails, old roads... race?)
how big you are (weight, height, inseam)
how agressive you are (FMX? big air? little jumps? keep it on the ground? fast? slow?)
and
how worried you are about having 'the latest' thing.

Obviously, the right bike for a short skinny 5'0" kid who's just learning will not be the right bike for the 6'2" 245lb vet class racer.

Give us some parameters and we can at least point you in the right direction. (under $500 your usualy better off with a 2stroke as they are cheaper new, so usualy cheaper used)

My first thought, given the bike you mentioned first, would be an older Jap MX bike in the 80cc 2 stroke variety... (CR80, KX80, YZ80, or RM80)... or maybe one of the 100's?

sorry ive waited so long to reply
i weigh 145 and am about 5'9. Im def. lookin for something bigger than a 80 since i have a 125 right now. I also want a 2 stroke, just for some trails, little jumps and I want something I can get some go fast goodies for

a 125 4-stroke, as mentioned before, is much less powerful than a 125 2-stroke. And likewise the frame is usualy smaller as well. (net real familiar with the DRZ though)

$500 really limits your options... I picked up a cool older CR125 last fall for $600 in working condition.. it needs some love, but runs pretty tight..

You will need to look in the papers around you... The local big paper and local 'ad-zines' are good places. For $500 you can't afford to have anything shiped from Ebay (but check anyways, for local bikes).

Any of the 4 Jap manufacturers have 125's that you can find go fast stuff for (CR, YZ, KX, RM). The older the bike, the less available the parts.... but you may find one with all the parts you want.... or you may find that you don't need so many 'go fast' parts with a 125 2 stroker.

Keep in mind that a 125 2-stroke is a full size frame.. you're definately big enough for it (put on some meat though.... lol).. it won't feel at all like your DRZ... it will do SOOOO much more than a DRZ125 that it will blow you away...

Keep a sharp eye out and you'll find a '95 or something for around your price...
