Those things probaly create more restriction than anything. Even if it does swirl the air you'd only maybe break even in power gains with that hunk a crap lodged in your intake....if that.

Let me get this straight... you are saying that it takes air destined for a turbine spinning at 100,000 + and swirls it for better combustion? That's a good one. I'd like to see what would happen if this thing got dislodged and pieces of it met with your turbos compressor wheel. You'd have one jumbled mess of metal!
I actually saw an article somewhere online where they found out that this actually can create small vortexes in your intake and slow down the flow of air coming in. If anything, it'd be better if it was just a venturi and didn't swirl it. Venturis do increase the speed of air flow, which would help slightly...
