I've got a few questions to ask the experts, I'll post a few at a time.

Here we go:

Oil Coolers/Engine Coolers, Good or bad on 98-01 GPs? I know ZZP Says that tranny coolers are a waste and a potental hazzard, so just skip that.

Extra Cooling Fans, a waste of money or a good idea? If I add an engine cooler and an intercooler, it might be a good idea to move more air over the radiatrs for those devices.

That's it for now, any info is apreciated and I thank you in advance, I'm still planning out the things I want to get for my own GP.

Do you really need extra cooling fans? How many mods do you have that you would run that hot? just my opinion I don't see why you would need extra cooling fans.

Fox,
Why don't you just get a 180 or 160 T-Stat?
Anytime you can get a GP to run cooler it's better. But where do live to worry so much about heat? I'd put the 180 and see if that does it for you.

Sorry, I guess I should tell you a little about myself.

I'm a perfectonist and when I do something, I tend to over-do it. And as for where I live, I live in Ohio just about an hour from Pittsburg PA. There is snow on the ground right now as I'm typing this.

So anyhow, my thoughts were something like this: "Hmmm, I bet the colder I can get it to run the better, at least in the summer."

But then I read something about over cooling, and now that worries me.

Anyhow, as for the add on fans, they are just to move more air through the heat exchangers.

So basicly after I got my new cam, turbo package (I'll probably be getting a GT and going the Turbo option) Intercooler, etc. I thought it would be a god idea for some extra cooling muscle.

I found a Perma-cool 6-pass cooler, but it's dual-circuit so I can run two fluids.

They say you can even cool your incomming fuel.

Anyways, to sum it all up:

I want my GP to be unique, and adding heaps of cooling power to have it run at 100 degees would definatly do that.

BUT, I am concerned about over cooling.

Thank you for any words or info.

The PCM has trouble with too much cooling. It keeps thinking the car has not warmed up. Had a 160 T-Stat, but found my car runs better with a 180. And I live in Florida. The extra fan is nice, but you might want to get all the other things under the hood first, room may be something you won't have enough of. And I know you don't want to buy all this stuff and end up selling it on Ebay.

That's a very good point about space.

I read on PERMA-cool's website that most engines run at oil temps above optimum.

And that Oil coolers are a good thing all-around because of lower temp not only in the oil, but also the air in the engine compartment.

Heres the dual-circuit one I mentioned on perma-cool:

And here is something I would most definatly get if i got an Oil cooler:

would cooling my fuel reduce KR, or not? What do you think?

And also, I just looked for and found what might be an answer to the space issue. Perma-cool makes a rail mounted trans cooler. I wonder if I could pipe the engine oil back to about the tranny or so? then I would not need more room up front to ad it on.

Do you just have too much money and don't know what to do with it?
Why don't you put this car together and drive it for a while. Then figure out what it needs. If your going to put a turbo in a GT, you maybe needing a trans, some money for tickets and a gas card. Wait and see what's up first. Then do it right.

Meh, I'm only 15 and a half planning what I want to do.

I know money will be an issue, but that's why I want to plan it all out.

So your 15 years old. Don't own a car, and won't have one for 2 years. But you want to post this because you may someday have one?

Pretty much. I want to learn all I can now and get all my ideas straight so when it comes time that I can do these things I'll have the biggest part out of the way.

So in the next year you are going to save $15,000.00? With the price of the car, and all the parts you are talking about, that what you will have to have.
Why don't you start with an auto repair book. Learn how to change oil, plugs and the small things.
It's nice to have a wish list, but I think you should sit back and listen to what these guys have to say. Maybe you will learn something, without taking up their time.
Good luck when you have a car.

Well.... okay. Good point, they don't need a n00b nagging them.

And I know how to do the small things. I do all the maintience on my John Deere rider and my uncle restores old cars as a hobby. He has a mint, stock restored 69 Camaro.

I'm always working with my hands and I'm going to have a friend of my dads teach me welding next spring/summer.

So I know how to do SOME things.

It has nothing to do with having a newbie asking questions but what Kustomkid is saying is you need to get the car first then ask questions. we all start out as newbie's at some point. if your really gonna get a GP the get a chiltons and read up and maybe read other posts from other members who have GP's. when I was 15 I wanted a new different car every week.
