driveline removal '98 '99

please help. I need to pull blown 1999 engine but can't get the drivelines to separate from the transaxle. Tried prybar, screwdriver, hammer, etc., Even broke a fin on my engine while prying. Damn thing won't budge. I even had engine 3/4 way out and put back in thinging I'd just swap heads, but pulled head and discovered not only head bad on #4, but the piston has broke free from crank too, so I'm back to pulling engine. What's the deal?
