E-brake light stays on

Hey, quick question about what to do about my e-brake light staying on after releasing it. Could it be because of cold weather we've had here lately? I had a little trip into a snowbank the other day because of poor road conditions and a random dog, and I ended up backing into a bank at about 10mph. The next day, though, the light worked fine and its only been in the last few hours that I've had this problem.

Is there anything I can do myself (without jackstands, mechanical equipment) to check the status of my cable? Putting the ebrake on still works to keep the car from rolling when its parked, so I don't think its been damaged at all...

Any help is appreciated!

the brake light also comes on when your brake fluid is low, check that. The switch is on the lever itself, and if the switch goes out the light probably wont come on at because its a normaly closed switch.

the switch that turns the ebrake light on and off is located on the ebrake lever under the plastic thats around it. Normally if the switch goes out (stops working) the light wont come on at all, thats why I said check your brake fluid.

the light will also come on if your pads are low, check that also if your fluid level is good.
