CBass, because my name is Connor(aye, good Irish name), and I resemble the redneck stereotype of Sea Bass, the really big tall guy, who is constantly looking pissed off(although I'm not).

That was before I mellowed out and started dressing like the middle class white guy I am ;) I may not have mentioned my legendary status of cool either... :D

definition of a hybrid-A functional unit in which two or more different technologies are combined to satisfy a given requirement. (a cross between an ITR and a delsol, in this case)
sol- my car is a delsol.
pretty self explanatory.

TerminalVelocity

welllllll

Origionally I was going to be paladin...but thanks to problems with af, I couldnt have that name....it wouldnt let me log in with the password I was given, and Igor never responded to my desperate crys of help *...not sayin crap, I know he was busy :uhoh: *

So I chose a name I've had for a team I didnt have at the time, well...it started growing and...well...its there...we aint big, but we got some decently random cars.

And as for the name itself...there was a game called Terminal Velocity, I was badass at it, noone could touch me on it. And the name always stuck me as majorly badass, and sence noone knows of it...well, noone takes the name but me.

soooo... :bandit:

Replicant comes from the Ridley Scott directed motion picture 'BladeRunner' - you can hunt down the definition with google if you are interested.

As for 008... in the original screenplay, there were definitely seven Nexus 6 replicants... I would imagine Ci5ic could hunt the names down.

However, there has been a lot of conjecture about whether there is an eighth replicant, which lead to the handle/username of Replicant_008.

Great film.. One of my favs :)

My Nickname... this is the most boring one ever. I just made it up for some online game I played back in the day and I've never bothered to change it because every one on the net either calls me GonthraX. Or Gonzo if you know me :D or my real name if you know me well. Or Pinkie if you mistake me for someone else. or...

Well was it 100mhz or 486? I am not being an a-hole but just wondering how you got 100 mhz out of a crappy 486. (mine only ran at 33 mhz with upgrades) I played terminal velocity to.. it was the shit for the old school days. Remeber when Wolfenstein 3D came out in DOS. Boy those were the days

The DX ran at 66mhz standard. With a big sucker heat sink and heat transfer goo all over the place, my DX chip used to run at 100mhz. My first overclocking adventures. Then I put in a p100 chip and ran it at 150. :p lol. Good memories. My current chip is 1200 running stably at 1389mhz.

I am pretty sure it what stock; i was in grade 8 when we ditched it, and i think it is in a dump now. But it said 100mhz on the boot, and it was a 486. Yeah, the DX2's ran at 66mhz, so i am myself a little mystified at the comp. My mom bought it from a friend, so it could have been overclocked. It had 16mb RAM:D

I actually found the tunnels not too bad, but the boss in the tunnel was pretty hard. All I did was follow the little arrow:rolleyes: It was cool, tho; you could fly up into the clouds to lose guys following u. It was awesome!

Yeah I don't doubt you guys it has been awhile since the 386.. and 486..'s I remember once actually paying some guy to upgrade the memory in my 386dx to a whopping 8mb I think it cost me like a hundred fifty bucks! LOL

My first PC was a 8088XT - ran @ 8MHz with the big green back-lit 'Turbo' Switch on and 4.77 MHz on standard. It had a whopping 640k of RAM, ran a CGA 640x480 card, ran a 5 1/4 floppy drive with 720k capacity and had a 20 MByte SeaGate Hard Drive.

I had MS-DOS 3.11 on it, had Lotus 1-2-3! version 2.01 and WordPerfect 4.2 and it got me thru my bachelors degree in commerce. To cut and paste figures and pictures into my assignments you used scissors and glue.

Someone had loaned me a Commodore 64 before that which I once spent days cutting machine code to emulate PACMAN and saving it onto 360k 5 1/4 floppies.

While I was at University, when I wasn't waiting tables, pouring wine and beer, working in the kitchen, driving trucks, laying concrete, selling strawberries, picking tomatoes I did some desk work writing spreadsheet models in Microsoft Excel 1.0A on a Macintosh Plus.

The funny thing was up until a few months ago, numerical modelling on Excel was the main skill used in my working life...

I knew it was a matter of time before someone brought up a C-64. I can't even remember the software I had for that thing. I do remember the bulky external 1541 3.5 drive for that thing tho. Who could forget the noise it made while loading a disc.LOL

I am *so* glad WinXP fixed solitaire. It was designed for teh 386/486 speed, so when u won, u could see the card falling nicely. The, with computer breaking 1ghz, the cards moved in less than 1sec; hello, its not a race!
But WinXP slows it down; ahhh, gratification for beating solitaire:D

That was after I discovered the cassette tape drives were not particularly reliable for larger files and had spent several hours writing code, saving it onto a C-15 Compact Cassette and then discovering the bloody C64 couldn't read the file on playback.

For those kids out there, we used to save files to cassettes using tape drives - the same things we used to dub our vinyl records onto to prevent them wearing the records out. Played back thru a cassette player it wasn't unlike the sound of a modem trying to synchronise...

ci5ic
01-06-2003, 05:40 PM
ci5ic is a name adapted from a Neal Stephenson novel entitled "Snow Crash". One of the character's names in the book is Da5id, and I always thought it was interesting....

Anyways, since "V" is the roman numeral for 5, they were switched, and so I used the same conversion on "civic" as was used on "david".

Viola!

Oh, and if you haven't read "Snow Crash" or any other Neal Stephenson novel, you should. Actually, he is credited with coining the term "Avatar" as it relates to the graphical representation of online persona's, much like the ones we use on this forum.

Other books by Neal Stephenson:

Zodiac
Cryptonomicon
Snow Crash
The Diamond Age
The Big U
In the Beginning...Was the Command Line

He also has several short stories floating around on the net.

Kind of like the "All Knowing Trash Heap" on Fraggle Rock. Anyways, I've always been a fan of talking junk heaps for some reason, so about 6 years back I used "TheGreatHeep" as my username for everything, especially IRC.
