ford escort 95 bad start

I have a hard time to start my car. Sometimes it is easy but most of the time I cranck and cranck and it does not start. It catches sometimes but dies. Pushing pedal does not help. Battary is new but it can be partly charged only. crancks great anyway.
I was able to start then it races idle prety high, smoke smels like gasolin and disapears fast, then it runs great. I have changed wires, spark-plugs, checked timing belt, fuel filter is one year old, air filter is clean. Nothing helps.

try cleaning the throttle body with fuel injection/carb cleaner/throttle body cleaner spray.

I will try it but I have never done it before. What exectly I have to clean? Do I have to disasemble it or I can clean it from air filter side?

easy to do from the air filter side undo the clamp and move hose over just a bit and spray inside the throttle body. but there is a way to try disassembling and spraying then re assemble. I did the first way worked fine.
