TPS Issue

Alright, so after running an intake leak test and finding out that both throttle body gaskets AND shaft seals were leaking, I decided to replace them all. Everything went pretty smoothly, and it is finished... kinda. We(my father and I) ran another leak test to make sure everything was good. We found a HUGE leak near the bottom of the TPS sensor. So we took the black plastic part of the sensor off to see what was going on. Turns out, there are two large spaces that air was flowing freely out of. Now, this wasn't leaking before we replaced all the gaskets, so obviously we messed something up.
So, I think I MIGHT know what is missing. This little piece right here that my dad decided to rip off with a pair of pliers because "it was rusted and didn't serve a purpose", all while I was inside getting a drink. It looks as though it might be what is supposed to go in the two holes on the TB at the TPS. He says he doesn't remember where he tore it off at, but he's pretty sure it was at the TPS.
Here you can see the two holes on the TPS (black plastic thing was taken off) where air was leaking during the test...

And here are the pics of the piece that was ripped off

Any help or advice would be GREAT.

They usually try not to put pieces under the hood that don't serve a purpose ;) Your dad should have asked you before doing that.
I can't tell you for sure if that's your problem, but it looks like it is to me. Maybe you can fab up a replacement for that piece, or jbweld something back on there?

Well I cant see the pictures and the website won't let me in. But if you are saying that there is a leak at the bottom of the TPS, try using some silicone and sealing it. That is what I had to do.
Edit>> Was the piece that was ripped off on the TB or part of the TPS

Pics should be fixed now, sorry about that. He says he doesn't really remeber where exactly it was ripped off, but he THINKS it came from the area near the TPS cause he remembers it being very close to a black piece (TPS).
Got plenty of time to get this fixed though, cause my ecu was shipped to DSMlink this morning :grinyes: and won't be back until around Friday!

I'm thinking something, but not sure if it's correct. Is air even SUPPOSED to get to that area? I was thinking that the shaft seals we replaced were supposed to prevent air from leaking out, but it seems they aren't doing their job? We replaced the seals with brand new o-rings, so I don't see that being the problem.

I dont think air should be getting there. I dont see why the sensor needs any air for a reading.
