i was drivin out in the mountains an parked for about and hour an a half, when i came back there was this faint high pitched EEE sound comin from the engine, it sounds like its comin from the throttle body but i'm not sure. whenever i let off the gas or push on it a little more it makes that sound an then fades. i didnt notice it today though. anyone know what could cause that an what i can do to fix it? thanks

the only EEEE sounding type of thing i can think of is like a slipping belt or something are you sure it's not that kind of noise?, granted that's not exactly in the throttle body area, basically opposite really. a slipping belt would make a squeal however.
besides that - if it really does sound like it's coming from the intake manifold grab a flashlight and make sure your stock/aftermarket intake is connected correctly still, check all the vacuum lines, take a look around the intake manifold pipes that go into your block (atleast the top part that you can see) for cracks or anything that might cause a "whistling" type of sound.
maybe you had a mountain mouse crawl into your intake hahahah and he got wedged in between the main throttle butterfly and squealed like a ginny pig anytime you let uP (: I had mice in an old 86 tercel i once had, cuz i parked it on a farm - that REALLY sucked.

heh i was joking about the mouse - well, i mean i did have mice in my 86 tercel, but they weren't in the intake - they were in the heater blower wheel (which was gross cuz they had tracked their shite thru all my heat vents), and their was a nest in the trunk under my spare. but yea the mouse thing was just kinda a joke. if you figure out what it is - let us know so we can all benefit from it (:
cheers

i checked it out, the intakes fine, timing belts fine, vacuum lines are fine, intake manifold is fine, and it no longer makes the noise. i dont see why it did. maybe altitude had some effect? i doubt it though
