does anyone know where i can find a 6-bolt motor or less than 2 grand. Will i have to get a new transmission for this to fit in my car or is it a direct swap?

No you will not have to get a new tranny, you will have to do some modifications to the drivers side motor mount. Other than that, rewire the CAS and everything will work fine.

You can find 6 bolts all over the internet... I have 4 complete motors on engine stands in my shop right now, 2 of them are in the process of being used. They are not hard to come by.

if you want to do it yourself I have a 1991 tsi block with crank and rods and others for sale for $200 plus shipping. the block was tanked and surfaced, the cylinders are ball honed and surfaced, the crank is balanced and pollished, the 1g oilpump is there, along with many other parts, like timing and crank pullies. the shortblock is 90% complete and disasembled leaving you only needing a head and bearings and gaskets, I can throw on new arp main studs and rod bolts for another $100. arp fasteners are brand new and still in packaging. THIS IS A 6-BOLT BLOCK.
1g oil pump gasket kit $28
1g main seal $15
2g head $125 each I have two
2g intake manifolds $125 each including sensors
and many more parts many trades may be concidered

If I were doing a 6 bolt swap i would never put a 2g head on it! Whats the point in going through all the trouble and not having any gain from it?

Tyko, shrink down your sig... Its way too big, put the cars side by side or take one out.

i just found a jdm motor with 30,000 to 45,000 miles with the awd transmisison and the jdm ecu for 1699. But i have to pay the import tax of 2.5% im sure that will suck then to have it installed im my car that will suck also. I would have to have it done in 2 days cause it is the only car i have.

Do you have any access to a cherry picker (engine lift) and some tools? Maybe a jack and some jack stands also?

Actually I just happen to know of 3 in the Texas area that are all under $1000. Now if you are looking to spend around $2000, you could buy a motor for under $1000, and spend the other $1000 getting someone to put it in!

Okay...well I just found a jdm cyclone 4g63 while I was looking around and stumbled upon a question. What if the engine comes with no wiring harness and all that jazz? My question is this...Can you use all of your pre-existing wiring and other electronics(ecu?) from your old motor?

Check out www.jdmsource.ca It is company out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I just got my JDM 4G63T Turbo for 1600CDN (1300USD). Came with new tranny as well. Only 30 000 kms ish on it, perfect compression and guaranteed less than 5% cylinder leakage (i think)

As well, I have a stock 4G63T Engine for sale. Good compression, low cylinder leakage, all that fun stuff. It is out of 94, not sure if it is 6/7 bolt, I always get confused, someone let me know please.

interested? [email protected]

Later!
