NO POSTS for what was undoubtably the most futuristic vehicle ever produced on an assembly line? The 1955 DS19 had a lower Cd than the 1981 VW Golf and hydropneumatic suspension that lowered the car on shutting off the engine and raising it again when the engine was started. And NO-ONE is interested? Yeesh!

Possibly because most of us are American and have never seen a Citroen in real life, much less a 1955 Citroen?

Come on! I don't believe you! Even if it is a rare sight on US streets you mean to tell me you haven't seen this car in countless music videos and movies that come out of Hollywood? This car STILL looks so futuristic that is used on movies made TODAY that are set into the FUTURE! And it's already half a century old

Hi just checking in from the frozen north British Columbia Canada
I have many different cars and interested in getting our '71 ID 21 Citroen back on the road.
I'm trying to find a timing chain
( but first ) I should find a repair manual to see if the timing chain did break
or even if it has a timing chain.
I bought two Citroens from a friend who moved from our valley both cars were stuck to the ground and one had a small tree growing out the front wheel well. I did a valve job using both motors and got one running the hydraulic brake line was cracked and would spray that green fluid in a mist.
We patched it and enjoyed driving for 3 months. When driving home one night all the idiot lights came on the motor died and the steering got very hard all of a sudden. The motor would turn over but no start and it sounded like the valves were not openning. I figure the timing chain broke and seeing that the timing chain would be on the rear of the motor next to the firewall. I just put it on hold. What was sad was that we just bought a new set of 15" Michlein tires for it that week and they are too big for our other cars(1957 VW bug)
Any one have a manual on that motor and a good connection for parts
I haven't tried Citroen in France yet
thanks
hank

And there were many different types of DS, from the DS Chaperon Convertible, to the Station Wagon, and the Presidential DS convertible with 4 doors, and others more confidentials as they were transformed by companies independant from Citroën.
A wonderful car, 2d at the election in Las Vegas in 2002 for the car of the year.

Car of the century !!! Sorry ! A little bit too old to be car of the year ;)
Though, the DS was elected car of the year in many countries, and also I think (to verify) in the US (year 55 more or less).

I am American and I have seen the 2009 Citroen DS. It is absolutely beautiful. I agree with SamBlob we should have a post for the DS. For those "Americans who have never seen the Citroen DS" http://www.topspeed.com/cars/citroen/2009-citroen-ds-ar70152.html take a good look, youll be seeing a lot more of it!
