Resin Help

Is it possible we could build a thread on using resin kits. I purchased a kit from SAS and theres no instructions. I dont know if its me, the kit or what, but I cant get the glue to stick, and the primer, just kinda rubbed off after a few days. I did get some putty, but am I supposed to just rub that all over to fill all gaps, and parts I couldnt sand into perfection? I'm sure i'm not the only one who feels this way. Anyone?

You need to use superglue and will need to remove all mold release before painting.

Man! I'm ticked!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: Now, I'll have take the putty and primer off and start over. This is hard work, but the finished product WILL be worth it. Thanks.

You should also do a forum search, there have been several threads discussing this topic :)

To get the primer to stick there are special resin primers like Mr Resin Surfacer form GSI Creos. It's also a good idea to rough the surface up with 800 or so sandpaper to give some tooth for the primer to grip. You can sand the primer smooth after.
As mentioned above, plastic glues will not work with resin (or painted/plated plastic for that matter), you need superglue or two part epoxy like Araldite.
