I am stumped on what it is that sounds like a clock ticking in my dash. I have a 95 talon tsi awd. Comes from up by the gauge cluster.

Put your car model, year, drivetrain, and tranny in your sig!
Is the tick rpm-related? Does it get faster or slower when you open up the throttle? If not, it is probably electrical.
Might be lifter tick, which generally sounds like it's coming from the dash area...

its not from outside the car. It literaly sounds like a loud clock ticking. My friend was joking around and said that it sounded like there was a bomb in the dash.

I have the same noise coming from a 95 gsx. On dsm.org there are discussions about this being related to a faulty part in the ecu that causes a melltdown. there are manuals on how to diagnose and repair. I have this noise pop up between 1k to 1500 rpm in first gear. goes away after that.
