A few problems/questions.

About 2 months ago my clutch exploded so I replaced it with an Exedy clutch kit (08011), finally after about a month and a half of problems I got it all together just to find that I can only put the car into gear when it's running if the clutch pedal is pressed in half way. If it's pushed in all the way it won't go into gear, it just makes the engine sound like it's straining a little. So my brain says "It must be the clutch cable", so I got a new one installed it, same thing. I then drive it to the local shop that's been helping me and they timed it for me and couldn't give me a straight answer on the clutch, they offered to take it apart for me, but the whole point was for me to do this by myself to save money, so I drove it back home and took it all apart again. I then took the new clutch, old clutch, flywheel and transmission up there and they checked over them and said they were good, except for the flywheel. They said it was machined the wrong way, that the outer ring that the pressure plate is on was supposed to be lower than the part the clutch disc sits on, so I thought, alright finally we've figured it out, so I took it to the place that refinished it for me and was told and shown that this was in fact false, that it was correct. As I thought about it it doesn't make any sense that the flywheel would have anything to do with the half-way clutch pedal, so I drove my car for a total of 10-15 minutes with a new clutch and refinished flywheel. I told the shop about it and they told me to go to honda and ask them if the flywheel was still operable, so I went there the next morning. Of course no one there has any clue what's going on, so they just tell me that it needs to be refinished. So there's my story, now for the questions.
1. Does my flywheel REALLY need to be refinished again, even though I barely drove on it at all?
2. Why on earth am I only able to put my car into gear with the clutch pedal in half way?
3. This clutch kit I got, it is for a stock flywheel and stuff, right? That's what exedy said when we called, but I wanna know for sure. Oh yeah, and when we called (the guy at the shop called for me) to confirm that the flywheel is supposed to be higher on the clutch pad and lower on the pressure plate, they said yes
4. I just installed a Hurst short throw shifter, this isn't my problem is it? I sure hope not, it felt real nice for those few minutes.
My car is a 1989 CRX DX
Please help me!
Thankyou very much,

They showed me the book that said it was a cup and not a step. Do you know which way your flywheel is?

I set it so that it didn't have any slack on the arm...at all, which is what I've been thinking it was, but do you think that it could cause the pedal to pull that much differently?
What about the flywheel? I don't wanna have to pay to get it refinished again.

That's what I found there, I will try that once I put my car back together... I guess since I'll be done with school Thursday I can start after that. I also guess I'm just gonna take my flywheel to the machine shop and see what they think. Methinks this is all up to me, and once I get it all put back together if I still have problems I'll continue this post, thanks for the help, I'm just tired of getting mixed answers on everything(from shops and whatnot). Thankyou for the responses.
