rear view mirror temp gauge inop

i have a 2000 gmc sierra 1500, the temp gauge on my rearview mirror says OC the compass works fine, anybody have any ideas whats going on??

Check your thermocouple. It's behind the grill. It's about 2.5 inches long.

Sounds like the wires came loose or it went bad.
