I tried removing the crankshaft position sensor. unscrewed the little bolt, disconnected the electrical plug, and tried pulling it out. Was quite tight, and ended up busting all the plastic housing to the sensor. All that is left is the metal prong coming out. I can get it to move in and out a very little but just wont come out any farther. I'm afraid i'm going to bust the prong off if I force it anymore. what am i missing. Please somebody fill me in. Thanks

I always grab the metal prongs with some small channel locks, then rolling it backwards like a hammer pulling a nail, it comes right out. Good Luck.

Channel locks should do it. When I recently did this on my '97 2.4L I used a screwdriver to help pry it out without damaging it. It was quite a chore since on this engine it is at 2 o'clock above the oil filter, and buried beneath the intake manifold (which I did not want to remove). I did most of the work from underneath, after removing the oil filter. There is only one bolt holding it in, after you remove that the O-ring is the only thing holding it in there. You might need to twist it back and forth while you pull.
