shift knob replacement

I'd like to get a new shift knob for my car, but all they sell in stores are knobs for manuals. I have the AOD. What I wanna do is relocate my OD button, and, then I was wondering, is there any possible way to relocate the shift button on the knob? you know, the one you press so that you can change gears... I wanna put that somewhere else, and then get a knob made for a standard shift. I already thought about the inconvenience of a separate button, but I can deal with that. I just wanna know if its possible. Any thoughts?

Most parts stores carry standard style shifters for autos.

look at my car to see what I mean.

Of course it's possible. Why don't you take out that brake light thats giving you problems and mount the switch there.

I guess I should look at it a little more to see what im dealing with. I have just never taken a good look at whats inside the knob.
